The next booster meeting for the Class of 2009 will be held on Monday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the RHS Cafeteria. The Order of business will be nomination and election of new Class of 2009 Booster Officers. Come and be part of the process and part of the planning for a wonderful year of activities for our "soon to be" Seniors!

Congratulations to our new Senior Class Officers:

  • President - Corey Bell
  • Vice President - Elizabeth Kolawole
  • Secretary - Michael Pabon
  • Treasurer - Jack Gordy
  • Historian/PTSA Rep. - Erinne Hart

Contract prices increased on May 1, 2008. Please submit your senior contract as soon as possible.

Looking forward to Senior Year:

  • September 2008 - Seniors vote for Prom Theme, class motto, song, colors, flower
  • Senior Prom - Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Southfork Ranch
  • Senior Luncheon - Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Southfork Ranch
  • Senior All-Day Field Trip - Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Reunion Ranch

Please submit your senior t-shirt design no later than Monday, May 5. The class will vote on the winning design the week of May 12 (submission forms may also be picked up in room 2101).

The annual Powder Puff game (Junior v. Senior girls) is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, at 4:00 p.m. at HBJ Stadium. Students may sign up in room 2101 to play (girls) or coach (guys). We have to get moving on this - the Seniors start practicing the week of May 5!!!

On April 22, 11th graders approved by class vote the option to hold the Senior Prom and Senior Luncheon at the same site (Southfork Ranch). Dates and decorations would be different. Choosing this option allows an additional $1500 (at least) to be used for student prizes.

The Class of 2009 prom date and location have been confirmed. Prom will be on May 9, 2009 at Southfork Ranch.

The money that the Parent Boosters raise through Fundraisers goes to offset some of the costs of the senior activities. Fundraiser's for the past year have been: Cookbooks and T-Shirts. We still have plenty to sell. If you have not purchased a Class of 2009 Cookbook, or, are in need of another RHS Maroon T-Shirt, please contact laurie.young@att.com.

Busy Parent Fundraiser
Annual Donation

The RHS Class of ’09 Booster Club provides parental and financial support to help offset the cost for student activities related to the Class of ’09 senior year. Please refer to your copy of the Senior Contract for the Class of ’09 to see a listing of event costs for senior activities in 2009.

We know everyone is busy and to help reduce the number of fundraisers, we are offering an opportunity for all ’09 parents, grandparents, relatives, neighbors and friends to participate in the Busy Parent Donation.

This is an annual $25.00 donation. The Class of ’09 parents and students fundraisers are separate, but are for the same common goal, to have a memorable Senior Year in 2009.

Make your checks or money orders out to RHS Class of 2009 and mail to:

Senior Contract

It is never too early to start preparing for your student's senior year. Expenses can be astronomical! The Senior Contract allows you to pay off senior events (such as prom tickets, senior luncheon, video, etc.) in installments!

Since your student’s freshman year, your student has received 2 copies of the senior contract. This year, a 3rd copy of the contract will be given to students the last week of October 2007.

Do you know the average overall cost of activities for your student’s senior year? OVER $50,000.00!!!! That’s right – Over $50,000.00!!!!!

Senior Contract FAQs

Items Included in Senior Contract

  1. Tickets to the senior prom, senior luncheon, and Senior Day Trip.
  2. A copy of the fantastic Senior video
  3. The memorial gift given by the Class of 2009 to Rowlett High School. Gifts in the past have included the eagle statue and tile seal in the floor in the main hallway, the stain glass window in Dr. Hammerle’s office, and the banners that hang from the lights in the front parking lot. These gifts ensure the Class of 2009 will always be part of Rowlett High School.

With the help of the Class of 2009 Parent Booster Club, other important costs during your student’s senior year include:

  1. The number and quality of Casino Party prizes during the Prom and souvenirs received at the senior luncheon.
  2. Many of the props used by seniors during pep rallies (such as silly string, posters, confetti)
  3. Cost of decorating the cafeteria by the Senior class during Homecoming week.

Important Facts You Need to Know

  1. Again, the average cost of senior activities is over $50,000.00!!!
  2. Right now, the cost of ONE ticket for each senior activity (that includes the prom, luncheon, Senior Day, copy of the senior video, and the senior gift) is $200.00! Additional tickets can be added anytime (through February 2009) if you have already submitted a contract.
  3. Students MUST submit a contract in order to purchase tickets to the Prom!!!
  4. There are deadline dates for submitting the senior contract to avoid price increases! In May 2008, the cost of the contract rises to $230.00 and in February 2009, the price rises to $260.00!
  5. A downloadable copy of the contract is available on the RHS Class of 2009 website. (Students given a contract in late October 2007.)
  6. Any money paid on the contract will be refunded ONLY if your student leaves Rowlett High School BEFORE graduation.

Advantages to Submitting the Senior Contract Early

  1. Costs during your student’s senior year are many and EXPENSIVE (graduation announcements, college tuition, etc.). By submitting the contract AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, you can pay out those costs over the next year and a half instead of all at once.
  2. In April 2008, the Class of 2009 must reserve prom and luncheon sites by paying deposits. The money collected from submitted contracts by that time pays for these deposits and directly results in the quality of the sites that can be reserved.

How and Where to Submit the Senior Contract

  1. Sit down with your student and fill out and sign the contract.
  2. You can submit the contract with your 1st payment to class sponsor Mrs. Osborn in room 2101. Your student can bring contracts to Mrs. Osborn anytime before or after school. Your student will be issued a receipt each time a payment is made on the account.
  3. OR, you can mail the completed/signed contract (with 1st payment) to RHS Class of 2009, 4700 Kirby Road, Rowlett, Texas 75088.
