Traffic Flow

A new traffic flow pattern has been implemented at Rowlett High School for the 2006-2007 school year. The entrance off of Kirby near the Main Street intersection has been removed, and a new entrance off of Main Street has been created in its place. These changes have been made in anticipation of the construction of Highway 190 (George Bush Freeway).

Thank you in advance for your patience with the new traffic flow procedures at RHS. As of Friday, August 25, we will be making additional adjustments to the traffic flow for student drivers. The changes are listed in maroon, as follows:

  • Students driving south on Kirby from Hwy. 66 will turn east (left) onto Main Street and enter the student parking lot using the north-side entrance on Main Street.
  • Students driving east on Main Street will continue to proceed east through the intersection at Main and Kirby and enter the student parking lot using the north-side entrance on Main Street.
  • Students driving north on Kirby from Miller Road will continue to use the west-side entrance on Kirby Road and proceed to the student parking lot driving down the side of RHS by the band hall.
  • All drop-off and pick-up will occur behind the school. Use the new Main Street entrance.
  • If you will be picking up your student after school, please wait until after 2:40 p.m., when they buses have departed. The back of the school is shaded with benches, where the students can wait for their rides.

Please check the web page often to stay updated on any changes to the traffic flow procedures at RHS.
