Activity Director

Welcome to the Activity Director page for Naaman Forest High School.

Chris Bryson came to Naaman Forest in August of 2001. Since he began his time at NFHS, he's been the Co-Director of Theatre Arts, Co-Sponsor of Thespians (Drama Club), Co-Sponsor of UIL One-Act Play, taught Theatre Arts I-IV & Theatre Production I-IV, was named the Lumberjack Sponsor (Guys Spirit Group) in October of 2003, has been the "Voice of the Stars" since 2005, named as Co-Media Coordinator for the campus in 2005, and named as Activities Director in May of 2005. Mr. Bryson wears many hats around Naaman Forest, and enjoys every minute he spends working with his colleagues to make NFHS the best it can possibly be for its students, and surrounding community.

Responsibilities of the NFHS Activities Director include, but are not limited to:
- Announcements
- Campus Scheduling (Air/Heat/Room Reservations, Custodians, Security)
- Class Sponsors: Recruiting & Replacement
- Class Sponsor Consultant
- Custodial - Special Campus Needs (School Year & Summer)
- Energy Management of Campus
- Event Setup/Management on Campus (District & Non-District)
- Fundraising (Management/Scheduling)
- Hiring of Event Staff (Faculty/Students) for events scheduled at NFHS

- Oversee Group/Organization Activities under UIL Guidelines for Eligibility
- Pre-game Activities at Home Football Games (Varsity)
- Senior Prom Consultant
- Summer Request Submission for GISD-related functions by NFHS Staff
- Supervise Activities on Campus as they relate to the GISD Maintenance Department, Office of School Facilities, & GISD Security, Codes & Procedures, and their adherence thereto.

Scheduling Events at NFHS

Since 1988, Naaman Forest High School has been the ideal location for both District, and non-District, events. Our unique location has attracted groups from all over the United States. Our manicured landscaping, 112 seat teird lecture hall, 132 seat Little Theater, 3-Gym setup, 1,600 seat Competition Gym, 1,341 seat Auditorium, our inviting Commons area, and friendly staff, are all part of the attraction that continues to bring events to our campus, and leads them to return again in the future. It is our goal to treat your event as our own so that all aspects are covered, and you are pleased with your experience.

If you are interested in scheduling an event at Naaman Forest, there are two ways to check on the availability of our campus: (Please note: Since we are next to the GISD - Special Events Center, building/parking availability during mid/late May, to early June, is limited to none, due to Graduations scheduled at the Event Center. During this time frame, availbility can change within a moments notice based on the Event Center calendar.)

1) If you are planning on scheduling an event for a GISD group (class, performance, indoor sports team (Volleyball, Basketball, etc), staff development, etc.) to be sponsored by a GISD group (Administration, Department, School) then you may contact Chris Bryson directly to check on availability at 972-675-3091 Ext. 62062, or csbryson@garlandisd.net. When inquiring about the availability of Naaman Forest for your event, please include any equipment (microphones, podium, etc), or unique setup (number of chairs, tables, etc), needs you may have, requested setup times, and the beginning time/length of your event, so the most information is available to make an accurate evaluation of the ability of our campus to fullfill your event needs. 2) If you are planning on scheduling an event for a non-GISD group (Booster Club, Church Groups, City Sports Teams, PTSA, etc.) by a non-GISD group, then you must contact Sonya Travis, with the Office of School Facilities, at 972-487-4109, or SJTravis@garlandisd.net, for the availability status, and prices for the use of the personnel/space. (Non-GISD events - Building Use Request Form)
