Red Ribbon Week
All week, show that you "CAN" be drug free by bringing in a can for our canned food drive. The class with the most cans donated will receive a prize!
Make sure you have October 25th on your calendar to attend our carnival! Games, food, prizes, and lots of fun are expected between 2 and 6 p.m. If you can volunteer some time by helping set up and break down or by being present at an event for a 30 minute shift, we could sure use you! Please let your child's teacher(s) know how you can help make the carnival a huge success! Thank you!
30 day Soda Challenge
Hillside's Health and Fitness Committee has challenged both staff and students to quit drinking soda for a period of 30 days beginning October 1. For some, this has been fairly simple. For others, lasting a day without it can be cause for a nervous breakdown! Students have been learning about healthier options and the benefits their body appreciates. So far, about 70% of our campus is making a more conscious effort to think before they drink.
Enriched Music Update
The first six weeks of school has come and gone and the enriched students are off to a great start! Every now and then Mr. Ochs will send a quick update on the class and pass along some important information about upcoming dates. During the second six weeks, students will explore movement as well as recorder (recorder is for 3rd-5th grades only). If students have a recorder at school or at home they will need to start bringing it to class. If they don’t have a recorder and you wanted to purchase one, you can pick one up at any local music store like Music & Arts or The Music Store. Purchasing one is not mandatory. Mr. Ochs has a class set that students use and they are cleaned after every use. Recorders usually cost anywhere between 5-15 dollars depending on where you purchase it. Do not purchase one at the dollar store or Walmart because it is a toy and it will not be in tune with the others. If you have questions, you may email Mr. Ochs.
It's time to start thinking about the yearbook! Our yearbooks are unique because they come with two pages you can customize FREE. These pages will only appear in your book. You may get started by registering at Treering. If you need help, please follow these step by step instructions and if you have already registered from a previous year, your login credentials still work.
Grade Level Newsletters
Each week, your child will receive a newsletter from their teachers that make you aware of things happening around the school and reminders of upcoming events. Please check your grade level's tabs located in the "Activities" section of the website to access the newsletters online.
