School Calendar

Check out what is happening during the month of October at Keeley.

Can Food Drive

We need your help to stock the food pantry at "Hope in Hand" in Rowlett, which helps provide food to needy families right here in Rowlett!  Keeley Elementary will be collecting food between now and October 31 to help stock the pantry.  Please do not send corn or green beans because they have a ton.  The top 5 classes that collect the most food will win a free recess.  Please see the list for items they need the most.  Your help is needed and greatly appreciated.

Employee of the Month

Katie Parker was recognized as Keeley's "Employee of the Month."  She was honored at a luncheon hosted by the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce.  Mrs. Parker has taught special education classes at Keeley for the past 18 years.  She is well known for her excellent rapport with parents, students and teachers.  Mrs. Parker always goes "above and beyond" to assist students who have learning disabilities, or others in need of specialized instruction.  Keeley is very forunate to have such an experienced and dedicated teacher for special education students.  Mrs. Parker resides in Rowlett with her husband, Dan, and became a new grandma for the first time this year.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a national celebration from October 27 to November 1.  This is an opportunity to renew our commitment to a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.  Each day there is a different theme such as sports shirts and wearing red.  Please see the theme schedule flyer for our daily themes.  We would like to thank our PTA in advance for donating all of the prizes for the week's activities.  Let's have fun this week and participate every day.

Get Your Keeley T-shirt!

Keeley "Positively Wild About Keeley" T-shirts are for sale. They are lime green with zebra lettering. Please fill out the order form and return to your teacher. The shirts are $12 each and you may pay cash or make check payable to Keeley.

Our 2014/15 school year is off to a great start.  It can sometimes be overwhelming with all of the paperwork going home and new programs and rules being implemented.  We want all of our student to attend school in a healthy and safe environment.  Our PTA has established a safety committee with parents who monitor the student drop off and crosswalks for early arrival.  Keeley is in our second year with the W.A.T.C.H. Dog Program, where dads volunteer their time to further ensure the safety of our students.  With that being said, I have listed a few links for you to peruse that contain more safety information.

In addition, our SRO officer conducts practice lockdowns and fire safety drills every grading cycle. Our counselor, Laura Wright, is on hand also for any questions or concerns you may have.

Soft Drink Tabs

We will continue to save our drink tabs to help out the Ronald McDonald House.  Students may put all the tabs in the large yellow container located in the front lobby.

It's time to start thinking about the yearbook!  Our Keeley yearbooks are unique because they come with two pages you can customize FREE.  These pages will only appear in your book.  You may get started by registering at Treering. If you need help, please follow these step by step instructions and if you have already registered from a previous year, your login credentials still work.

Happy Birthday

Keeley is trying something new this year. You may wish your child a happy birthday on the marquee! Summer birthdays can be recognized on their half birthday. Simply fill out the form and return to your child's teacher.
