Keeley's last Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A for this school year was a success. Mrs. Delle's second grade class had the most participation and will get to enjoy a chicken nugget party. An extra recess will go to Mrs. Cabaniss' fourth grade class for second place. Congratulations and thanks to everyone for their support!
Our Open House is scheduled for Monday, March 2. The PTA meeting will begin at 6:15 and the choir will perform. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 7-8 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Fifth grade students are being given the opportunity to sell Covington's Spring Flowers. Each flat is a 20 count of 4" plants. There are an assortment of flowers such as Pentas, Zinnias, Begonias and Impatiens which all sell for $22. The fundraiser starts February 16 and all order forms need to be turned in to your child's teacher by March 9. These flowers are from Covington's Nursery and are a better price through the fundraiser. Delivery will be on Saturday, April 11, at Keeley.
Check out what is happening during the month of February at Keeley.
Choice of School
It's time for the annual "Choice of School" program. This open enrollment plan is one of GISD's more distinctive features. For any questions you may have, the District website has more detailed information.
Employee of the Month
|Laura Cox, Keeley's technology assistant, was selected as "Employee of the Month" and was honored at a luncheon hosted by the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Cox has worked at Keeley for the last seventeen years and has been responsible for meeting all technology needs within the school. In addition, she has totally managed the school's website and has done an excellent job with keeping it updated. Whenever anything goes wrong with technology on the campus, everbody yells "Get Laura." Mrs. Cox is an indispensable employee who works tirelessly to keep everything running with technology and goes "above and beyond" on a daily basis. She has three children who attended Keely, and she resides in Rowlett with her husband, Kerry.
Elementary School EXPO
Garland ISD is hosting an elementary school EXPO for 5th grade students transitioning from elementary to middle school. All middle schools in the district will be represented. This EXPO will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the Curtis Culwell Center.
Children's Chorus Tryouts
The Garland ISD Fine Arts is offering an opportunity for musically talented 3rd and 4th graders to audition for the year's city-wide Fourth and Fifth Grade Children's Choruses. Tryouts are held in the Spring and all students will learn the audition song during music class. If your child is interested in auditioning and is willing to commit to the program, please read the requirements, fill out the form and return it no later than February 27. This will be a fun and rewarding experience for students who love music, love to sing and perform, have self-control, and show outstanding ability.
