Listed below are recaps of activities and programs that Keeley incorporates during the school year. 

Accelerated Reader

AR in computer labKeeley has always had great success with the AR program and we consider it to be a highly effective program for motivating students to read. The program gives students instant feedback when comprehension tests are taken. Logs are maintained for students to record books that are read and tests taken. Parents can monitor their child's progress towards the 6 weeks goal by going to "Home Connect" found on the library page.


bingo cardsBingo is a PTA sponsored event and is usually a father/daughter or mother/son night.  Prizes are awarded to the winners and snacks are served as well. The kids love it.

Book Fair

library booksKeeley's library hosts two book fairs a year. 

Box Tops

Box Tops for Education is sponsored by General Mills. This program helps our school earn cash for books, computers, etc. We appreciate parents, grandparents, and friends clipping their Box Tops and sending them to the school office. Be sure to write the child's name and teacher on back of each box top so the student may be included in our weekly drawing for prizes.

Fall or Spring Carnival

Fall CarnivalThis carnival is sponsored by the PTA and is one of the fundraisers for 5th grade. There are train rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, food, games, a costume contest, haunted house, and much more.

Field Day

Keeley's field day is held in May. It is a fun filled day of indoor and outdoor activities put together by our P.E. teachers.

Field Trips

A variety of field trips are planned and scheduled for each grade level throughout the school year.

  • Collin County Adventure Camp

This camp is an outdoor education camp located outside McKinney, Texas, which 5th grade students attend in May for 2 ½ days. This is an exciting chance for our kids to experience outdoor learning adventures.

Honor Choir

The honor choir consists of 4th & 5th grade students who audition for the choir. The choir meets once a week after school for practice and participates at many functions throughout the year.

Jam the Gym

jam the gymThis program is hosted by the Physical Education Department and invites a different grade level each month to participate in games and activities that the students have learned in their P.E. classes. Lots of energy and tennis shoes are a must!!

Jump Rope for Heart

This event is sponsored by the American Heart Association. Students ask friends and family for donations. During P.E., the students learn jump rope skills, how to take care of their heart, and help kids with special hearts. This event is usually held in the Spring.

STEM Challenge Club

Each week the students in the STEM Challenge Club are given a task and are supplied with materials to design and construct the task.  The students have created sail cars, magnetic hover cars, straw rockets, windmills and many other things.  

Punt, Pass & Kick

This program has 4th & 5th grade students participating in activities centered around punting, passing and kicking footballs during the month of September. The unit concludes with a punt, pass & kick local competition. The 1st place winners move on to a sectional competition.

MakerSpace Club

During MakerSpace the students explore activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  Some of the activities include robots, Bloxels, circuit kits, Legos, and many other choices. 


Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week provides Keeley with an opportunity to renew our commitment to a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. This is a national celebration and different activities are planned every day. Ribbons are numbered and passed out and a random drawing is held each day to award prizes promoting drug free lifestyles.

School Walk for Diabetes

The PE Department and the American Diabetes Association hosts a School Walk for students, faculty, family and friends. Participants walk, jog, or run during each class' regular PE time. All contributions are donated to the American Diabetes Association to help in its efforts to prevent and cure diabetes as well as to improve the lives of all people affected by the disease.

Science Fair

science projectThe Science Fair is held at the end of January. It is optional for 1st through 3rd grades. Participation is required for 4th and 5th grade students.

Sweetheart Dance

A PTA sponsored dance that is either a Father/Daughter or Mother/Son night. It is a fun evening of dancing, games, contests, and food. Prizes are given away throughout the evening.
