Fall in love with books – it’s that time of year! We are busy in the library with our "Fancy Nancy" words like Book Care Etiquette and Library Etiquette. Don’t be surprised to here these big words from even your kindergartener.

Speaking of kindergarten, we are busy putting together our "Libeary" Book Care Etiquette. We are learning all the ways to take care of our books. You can find the Book Care Etiquette on our Home Page also.

Mr. Wiggle has paid a visit to the 1st graders and he is keeping watch over all their books making sure that they remember all the book care and library etiquette, too.

Second grade is learning all about the different sections of the library and how to use the online catalog to find books they want – even from home!

We are about the begin our BLUEBONNET READING CLUB with 3rd-5th grade. A committee from the Texas Library Association chooses 20 of the best of the best books for children for that year. This is an annual event and each student will be given a reading log and will be able to participate if they read at least 5 books by January.

Each student votes on their favorite book and joins students all over Texas in the Bluebonnet Voting. For all students who read 5 books we have a Bluebonnet Voting Party, It is a fun time and we all enjoy the selection of books that we read.

Remember - Readers are leaders!  Read Read to Succeed!
Be a Rock Star reader at your library!

    Checkout Procedures

All classes visit the library as a group once a week to check out books.
    Each week:
Kindergarten students may check out 1 book.
1st grade students may check out 1 book the through Christmas and then 2 books for the rest of the year.
2nd graders check out 2 books.
3rd-5th grade students may check out 3 books.
Every student is allowed to check out one book that is their free choice.
Open checkout is every day from  8:00-8:30 and from 2:40-3:15.  Monday is Open Checkout all day long.

    Overdue books:
All library books are due on the student's regular check out day. No fines are charged for overdue books, but students may not check out any more books until all current check outs are returned or presented for a recheck. Therefore, it is very important for students to have all of their library books at school on their regular library day so new books may checked out during that time.  We encourage all students to keep their books in their backpacks at all times.
