Checkout Procedures

 Library hours

The library opens before school at 7:30 a.m.- 3:50. Each child comes to the library with their Accelerated Reader folder. This folder helps them remember their reading range and it keeps track of the titles they have already read.

 Grade Level Check-out

• Kindergarten begins checking out books once a week with the teacher after the first six weeks of school..
• First grade checks out one book at a time returning for another when finished for another.
• Second, third, fourth and fifth grades check out two books returning for another when finished with either

 Parents may request a “parent account” and the students can use that account to check out more books. Parents may come to the library before and after school (see hours above),

 Late books and fines

• The homeroom teacher will send home weekly overdue and fine notices.
• If a book is damaged or lost, your child will be responsible for the cost of the book.
• Your child is responsible for books on his/her library account regardless of whether or not they were lost at school.
• If your child pays for a book and later finds it, the district will mail a refund check to you.
• We advise students not to lend books that they have checked out, to a friend. If the friend loses or damages the book, the student who originally checked it out is the responsible party.
