Welcome to Shugart Elementary
We know you want to stay informed about your child's education. Skyward Family Access, an exciting web based student management tool, will allow you to do just that. For some Skyward tips, you can check out our slideshow, look for more information in our weekly Cowboy Chronicles, or read more about Skyward Family Access.
Keep Learning over the Holidays
Turn on the captions as you watch movies with your children. Reading along helps to improve fluency and comprehension. Sit outside on a clear evening, and watch a sunset, or look at the moon. Then, go to your local library, and check out the books Next Time You See a Sunset or Next Time You See the Moon. Encourage students to blog about books using the library website. Encourage your children to keep reading. The holidays present a great opportunity for students to complete the Six Flags Read to Succeed logs. Parents may access information regarding students' Accelerated Reader progress. For more details, refer to Renaissance Home Connect.
Picking Up STEAM
Our fourth grade students mastered the art of working cooperatively and creating a bridge. Just look at the bridge they created after having been given a few supplies. This is just one of the awesome lessons going on at Shugart. Too see some others, check out the slideshow. Way to go, Sheriffs! Shugart Elementary students were proud to compete in this year's STEAM Challenge.
The Holiday Program
The music teacher, Ms. Rebecca Thompson cordially invites you to attend our annual holiday program. Our 3rd-5th grade musical will be held at Rowlett High School on Thursday, December 18th. This year's theme is "A Trip to the Holidays!" The program will start at 6:30 and end at 7:30. We look forward to seeing parents and community members. Come join us, and make some beautiful music!
You can also learn more about Ms. Thompson on our Activities Page.
Give the Gift of Reading
Just in time for the holidays. The librarian will be hosting a holiday book fair. We will have plenty of fantastic Scholastic books available to purchase so that students can continue reading the books they love during the holidays. The book fair will be open during school hours on December 16, 17, and 18. Parents can also purchase books from our online fair. Your generous support of the book fairs really do help our library.
