Welcome to Shugart Elementary
The Summer Camps are Avaiable!
Camp GISD is a day-camp week or two of fun! Campers choose one day-camp for Monday-Thursday, and may enroll for one or both weeks of Camp GISD. There are no grades, but campers are expected to actively participate and complete all projects. Check more information here.
Spring Music Program
Our spring music program was a hit! Our kindergarten, first, and second grade students worked so hard, and they were ready to perform. Kindergarten sang a few songs that “summed up” their year in music, and first and second grade performed "Nightsong," a mini-musical about a bat named Chiro who was going on his first night flight. Click here to check out some pictures from the program!
Let's Learn to Code
Teachers, Alesha Havens and Angela Morrow, had the opportunity to learn about computer coding, and they shared the exciting information with other teachers. Now, those teachers are teaching students to code. The students feel that coding is a fun way to learn new and exciting technology skills.
Ebooks and Audiobooks
Have books at your student's fingertips without ever leaving home. Parents, use your devices to download the Overdrive App. With it and a library card, your children can have access to Garland Public Library's extensive digital collection. By using this click sheet, students can download the Brytewave and Destiny Quest apps to access Shugart's ebooks. Check out bestselling authors, Bluebonnet books, AR books and more. Ebooks are automatically returned to the library after at the end of the loan. Students do not even have to remember to return them.
School Report Card
Please be sure to look at our school report card. Shugart received all six possible distinction designations for our STAAR performance. The designations include the following: Academic Achievement in Reading, Academic Achievement in Math, Academic Achievement in Science, Top 25% in Student Progress, Top 25% in Closing the Performance Gaps, and Postsecondary Readiness. Way to go, Sheriffs. We are so proud!
Support ALE to Morgan's Wonderland
We are asking for help to raise money to fund a trip to Morgans Wonderland for fifteen amazing, strong, and unique children who were given the gift of being different in our world. These children are all students in the ALE class at Shugart. ALE stands for "Alternate Learning Environment". Our students all require special modifications in order to be successful in their educational and personal lives. Our students' disabilIties range from Intellectual Disabililties, Down Syndrome, and Autism. Click here to donate.
