Mission Statement
The mission of Walnut Glen Academy for Excellence is to provide an exceptional education for our diverse academically gifted, artistically and musically talented, and regular education neighborhood students by teaming with parents, teachers, and community members to present both basic and innovative learning opportunities for all.
We strive to help students become strong academic and creative thinkers so they can better face future challenges and become successful, responsible members of a world society. We aim to establish an atmosphere in which students possessing a wide range of abilities understand that everyone has the potential to improve.
Parents Reaching Out is a non-profit organization that works with parents, caregivers, educators and other professionals to promote healthy, positive and caring experiences for families and children.
The Intercultural Development Research Association is an independent, private non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening public schools to work for all children. They are committed to the IDRA valuing philosophy, respecting the knowledge and skills of the individuals we work with and build on the strengths of the students and parents in their schools.

The Texas Business and Education Coalition’s Honor Roll for 2009 recognizes 254 of the state’s most outstanding public schools. Being named a TBEC Honor Roll school is the most prestigious academic award a Texas public school can achieve. Principal Alex Rivera was present at the GISD School Board to receive the prestigious award.
