Principal - Lisa Alexander

Mrs. Alexander standing in front of our Walnut Glen muralI was born in Springfield, Missouri while my father was attending college. After his graduation we moved back to Garland where my parents were from.  I attended school in Garland at Bullock Elementary, Jackson Middle School and North Garland high school. I went to college and received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at The University of North Texas and the a Master's degree in Educational Administration.  I taught Kindergarten and Fourth grades at Spring Creek Elementary in GISD before becoming an Assistant Principal at Rowlett Elementary and then a Principal at Cooper and Rowlett Elementary.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for thirty years. We have a daughter, Jordan and a son Chase. Jordan graduated from Texas State University and is employed with GISD and my son is a recent graduate at Texas A&M and works for Cintas in the Woodlands.  During my free time I enjoy reading, shopping, gardening and spending time at our lake house at Cedar Creek Lake.  I am excited about leading our school into many exciting endeavors over the next few years!

My name is Meredith Neatherlin and I am honored to have the opportunity to work at Walnut Glen Academy.  I grew up in Del City, Oklahoma and graduated from Del City High School.  I attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education.  After graduation, I taught 2nd and 3rd grade in Oklahoma City.  I moved to the Dallas area in 2010 and began teaching 3rd grade at Ethridge Elementary.  I obtained my Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership and Administration.  I have also taught Intervention and served as a Technology Specialist for GISD.  The past two years I have spent my time as an Instructional Specialist for the Advanced Academics Department.

I am happily married with one daughter, Olivia.  Olivia is a 4th grader and loves Minecraft, sour candy and being a member of the drill team.  As a family, we love to travel, play board games and try new restaurants.

I believe parent involvement is key to a successful student.  I hope to see you soon and look forward to growing and learning here at Walnut Glen!
