Ms. Mills is entering her 5th year as a high school dance teacher and drill team director, and graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas in 2006 with a bachelor of arts in dance and a minor in health promotion, where she received several dance and academic scholarships. After graduation, Ms. Mills left Texas to pursue a professional dance and teaching career in Connecticut, New York, Oklahoma, Chicago, and Houston. Ms. Mills returned to Dallas in 2010 to teach at North Garland High School. While at North Garland, she directed the JV drill team from 2010-2011, simultaneously directed both JV and Varsity during the 2011-2012 year, and directed the Varsity drill team from 2012-2013 before moving to Bastrop ISD to create a dance department at Cedar Creek High School this past year. Ms. Mills was awarded a grant in the spring of 2011, titled “Raising the Barre with Ballet,” in which she received an additional ballet barre for the dance studio at North Garland. Ms. Mills is a member of the Texas Dance Educators Association. Outside of teaching, she enjoys taking yoga and Pilates at Sunstone Yoga, and taking dance classes at The School of Contemporary Ballet in Dallas. Although she loves all dance, her favorites are the most classical ones: ballet, modern, and jazz!
