Keeley Elementary has the most awesome volunteers. We truly appreciate everyone who donates their time to our school. We are always in need of volunteers and you do make a difference. A few of the many reasons people volunteer:
- Makes you feel a part of the school
- You become more involved in your child's life
- Gives you the opportunity to try new skills
- Improves student success
- Self satisfaction
Volunteer application process
For the safety of all students, the Garland Independent School District requires all potential volunteers who will work at any campus receive a background check by the Department of Public Safety. This check will be completed using the Raptor Volunteer Management System.
Participate in an organization
WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) are fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and any other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administration. This program provides positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
If you have questions, you may contact Rob Morgan at 214-998-8849.
|We want you in the PTA. By joining the PTA, you will be a part of the largest child advocacy network in the state and country. Simply complete the form and return to your child's teacher. You will be demonstrating support for your child's school as well as getting connected with what is happening at school. For more information, you may contact Malesa Rose.|
Box Tops for Education
|Please continue to send your box tops to school. Be sure your child's name is on the back of each one. We want to make sure that they are part of our weekly drawing. Our school gets 10 cents for each box top.|
Team GISD Reading with Rodney
Please see the power point and video about the moving story of Rodney Mills, who was a former custodian at Keeley. The district has begun a new initiative to give opportunities for eading to students that may not have those opportunities outside of school. The goal of the district is to build a mobile library that will travel within the district to some of the hig risk areas for students to check out books.
We are collecting new or like new books. The books can be from all ranges...pre-readers to high school literature. Just bring the books to school and we have a bin to place the books. We hope everyone can donate to this worthy cause of reading.
