Principal's e-News
This year, parents may subscribe to our e-News. If you would like to receive email notices from Austin Academy, a link to e-News can be found at the bottom of the Austin Academy website. Notices are sent out approximately once per week with information about upcoming presentations, grading updates, and other AAE news.
Austin Academy receives award
Once again, Austin Academy has been recognized by the Texas Business and Education Coalition. This is the fourth time, AAE has recieved this award. The award is earned over a three year time period and looks at test results as well as overall student progress. Congratulations to our students and staff for their hard work.
Choice of School sent home
Choice of School forms will be sent home with all 8th graders on Wednesday, January 20. All parents of 8th graders must select a high school for next year. Students who applied to attend a magnet high school will receive a letter about the status of their application before the choice of school period ends in February.
We want to let parents of our current sixth and seventh graders know that the choice that you made last year will be honored for all the years that your child attends middle school. If you want to select a school other than Austin Academy, you must complete a choice of school form. If you want your child to continue at Austin Academy, you do not have to complete another form. You may assume that any 6th or 7th grader currently enrolled at Austin Academy will return next year unless you complete a form to change your school selection. Our office will contact the parent of any 6th or 7th grade student who does not have Austin Academy listed as the first choice. At that time, the parent may complete a form to let us know which school the parent wants to select. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the choice of school procedures.
PTA meeting to have pretigious presenter
The Austin Academy PTA will present a very special program on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Mandy Griffith, U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas, will speak on the topics of internet safety, cyberbullying, and inappropriate texting. Plan to attend this important session with your students who are sixth grade and older. The PTA business meeting will begin at 6:45 in the Austin Academy cafeteria. The program will begin at 7:00.
