Being an Active Reader
8th Grade Reading Teacher, Mrs. Franklin, has this to say about Active Reading:
Active Reading means you are constantly interacting with the words you are reading. You are marking the text as a way to "hit" the important things. You are writing questions so that you can dig deeper into the author's intent. You are recording your "aha" moments so that you can intelligently share with others and gain multiple perspectives.
Through Google, all students have access to Google Drive (Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms, and Presentations), Gmail, Google Sites, and more. Everything in Google is Sharable, Editable, and Accessible anywhere through the internet. All GISD students are provided a Google Login. This is a GISD account and is to be used only for school work. Teachers are fully able to inspect and monitor the accounts at any time. For more information, contact our Librarian, Ms. Jennifer Hashert.
Parent Connection Newsletter
The GISD Parent Monthly Newsletter is designed to assist parents as they help their child achieve academic success.
