Mission Statement
Abbett Elementary, a unique school in the Garland Independent School District because of its cultural diversity, various socio-economic levels and ethnic distribution, assumes the responsibility for preparing children to live and work in an ever changing world. All students need to develop essential academic skills and acquire a foundation of knowledge on which to build lifelong learning.
All students will be taught a core curriculum of English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, health, physical education, and technological literacy. All students will be taught the responsibility of citizenship, economics, and an appreciation for our multi-cultural heritage. Students will be encouraged to develop a sense of self-worth, responsible behavior, and respect for others.
Students will, within their individual abilities, be provided the opportunity to develop the ability to think critically, independently, creatively, apply decision-making strategies, and to communicate effectively.
Abbett Elementary will provide the highest level of quality instruction equally to all students, maintain accountability for demonstrated results, and pursue continuous improvement. A positive school environment with an awareness and understanding of problems facing society will be provided to better enable all students to function as productive members of that society.
