Beaver Stars in Action
In January we unveiled our new and exciting Friday Club Program which supports our school mission of providing students with unique extracurricular opportunities that connect to the real-world. The purpose of this program is to support 21st century skills which require learning to work with others, create, and solve real-world problems. Clubs provide students opportunities to explore new areas of interest or to study a particular area in depth. Here is a look at a few clubs from our first club cycle.
National School Library Month
Also, April is National School Library Month. The theme this year is "Lives change @ your library." A quote from well known author and this year's spokesperson, Jeff Kinney is "I don't know where I'd be without my school library. Our librarians were passionate about putting great books in the hands of kids, and making us into lifelong readers."National Library Week is celebrated April 13th-19th."
National Poetry Month-April
Did you know April is National Poetry Month? Watch our Beaver Stars celebrate by reading a poem called Twickham Tweer By Jack Prelutsky. "Eighteen years ago, the Academy of American Poets established National Poetry Month in April to celebrate and expose the art of poetry to everyone. Poets like Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, and Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Frost are just a few of the American poets celebrated this month."
Also view some Beaver students learning many different poetry activities.

We are excited to introduce our newest faculty member, SAMMY (Students Achieving Morals and Manners Yearlong). SAMMY the beaver promotes a school-wide social skills and character development program. Each week SAMMY will bring new insight to our students about social skills and how to interact with others. Guests will come on our daily video announcements with SAMMY to discuss and explain the social skill or Insight of the Week. Sometimes he doesn’t always say the right thing and the guest will provide clarification. Beaver students are always excited to tune in to our announcements and see what message he has for the week. Click on the following links for the Insight of the Week.
Your feedback is important to us and will help us plan for another successful year. Please take the time to fill out the survey. We are also conducting a school-wide competition to reward classes with the highest participation. Ten minutes is all it will take.
