Beaver MST Parent Survey

Technology Center. We take great pride in delivering the best
education to your child with highly qualified teachers and support staff.

order for us to continuously improve our service to you and your child, we are

Scientific Superstars Bring Home Trophies
On March 11th students from around the metroplex competed in the annual Regional Elementary Science Fair for grades 1-6, which was held at the Special Events Center here in Garland ISD. Students from seven school districts participated in this fair (Allen, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Garland, Mesquite, McKinney, Richardson and Plano). Here We Grow!
Our magnet program is expanding to include kindergarten and bilingual students starting in the 2010-11 school year! Both Watson and Beaver Technology Centers are pleased to announce that our programs are going to include primary students and bilingual students who qualify for the program. We will be adding first grade in the 2011-12 school year. We are very excited about growing our magnet program and being able to provide opportunities for an enriched learning experience to more students in Garland ISD!
Beaver Stars Awarded High Performing School Recognition by NCEA
The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) has recognized our school as part of their 2009 Just for the Kids Campaign for Higher Performing Schools in Texas. We qualified for this recognition in two areas: 1. Growth in math and reading, and 2. College and Career Readiness (CCR) indicators for science. Schools recognized for growth achieved better improvement based on percentage of students scoring at or above NCEA's CCR tragets. Our school will be recognized in Dallas on January 21st. Beaver MST...In the News
Sunday's edition of The Dallas Morning News included an article about state and area schools that were ranked by a group called Children at Risk, which is based in Houston. Beaver MST was ranked #22 out of 807 schools in North Texas and 155 out of all the schools in the state. Wow!! These rankings were based on a number of measures, including TAKS scores. We are a TEA Exemplary Campus
Students and staff are seeing the results of hard work, high expectations, and commitment to reaching goals. For the second consecutive year, TEA has rated Beaver MST as an Exemplary school. This rating means that at least 90% of all students and 90% of each student population group at Beaver Tech passed each section of the TAKS test in grades 3, 4, and 5. Congratulations Beaver Stars; this is an outstanding accomplishment!
Just for Kids Honor Roll - Fifth Consecutive Year
For the fifth consecutive year, Beaver Tech has been named a Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Just for the Kids Honor Roll School!!! This is one select group to be in-less than 4% of Texas public schools are being honored this year. This award is based on our TAKS passing and commended scores; however, awards like this are the result of work from everyone in kinder through fifth grade, including our students, staff, and supportive parents. Our school was recognized in San Antonio on Nov. 9th. Congratulations!!!
Beaver Technology Center Awarded Banner!
Beaver Tech celebrated on May 14th with special guests from the Texas Education Agency, Region X and Region XVI who presented the school with a Texas-sized banner for the National Title I Distinguished School Award. Scott Luna, GISD School Board President, Mayor Ronald Jones from the City of Garland, and Dr. Curtis Culwell, GISD Superintendent were all on hand to congratulate students and staff on this prestigious award. Members of the campus improvement team and the fifth grade jeopardy champs accepted the award on behalf of the students and staff. What a special day this was for all our Beaver Tech stars!
Calling all Volunteers... We Need YOU!
Become a Beaver Technology Center Volunteer for the 2009-2010 school year! There are many opportunities for you to participate at Beaver Tech, including PTA activities, helping classroom teachers, chaperoning field trips, etc. Whether you can donate one hour or one-hundred hours, we have a spot for you! However, for the safety of our students, all volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer form and background check every year before volunteering. Because we have so many involved parents, we encourage everyone to fill out the necessary forms, even if you do not anticipate volunteering on a regular basis. A large part of our school's success can be attributed to our outstanding volunteers. Thank you for your support!
