Final E-Waste Collection for the Year
Our last pickup date will be on Friday, May 29, 2015. Please drop off your old computers, peripherals, components and electronics to have them recycled appropriately. We can accept virtually anything that runs on plug or batteries. (We also accept batteries.)
Please bring your used printer cartridges. We earn a good profit from them. Handheld electronics, tables, phones, and laptops earn us the most. Bring them on in. Broken and outdated still brings in cash for us.
Field Day 2015
Despite the soggy day, Field Day 2015 took place on Friday, May 22. Events were scheduled around and inside the building. Buddies moved among the 24 stations, testing their skills in fun competition. Students and staff enjoyed a picnic lunch together on the playground.
Thanks to the many parent volunteers who made the day possible. Thanks also to the Jackson MS Student Council students who assisted with the events.
The Beaver 2nd grade classes sponsored concessions and a SlimeFest, with proceeds benefiting a service project for one of our own. Concessions raised several hundred dollars, and the SlimeFest raised over $5000.00! Thanks for everyone's support.
GISD STEAMposium, 2015

Relevant Learning Experiences
One of our goals here at Beaver MST is to make learning relevant for students by connecting what we learn at school to the real-world. One way we do this is by going on multiple field trips throughout the school year to take take the learning beyond the school walls.
School & Home Software Applications
Did you know your child can access some of the same computer programs used at school? Also, some of these programs are available as apps. For more information, go to the Resources Page.
Magnet schools feature special programs not offered at other schools. In Garland ISD, there are twelve magnet schools for a variety of students: gifted/talented students, students with a high interest in math, science, and technology, students interested in classical studies, global business, Mandarin Chinese and students focused on college and career preparation. Spirit Sticks are for sale on the first Friday of each month and during special events. We will also have special edition Sticks on sale during the holidays. Sticks are $1 each and the money raised goes towards purchasing more sticks.
Box Tops for Education
We have had a successful Box Tops collection this year. With the money received from Box Tops, we ordered two iPad minis for the music room. We still need more, so please keep sending your Box Tops to school.
The Beaver TECHniColor Run took place on Friday afternoon, April 17. It was a huge success. Waves of students ran the course, getting doused with special powder paint at each station. After finishing the course, they stopped by the popsicle station for some cool refreshment. It was terrific seeing family members join in the fun.
The event was the PTA spring fundraiser. There were nearly 600 participants, including a whopping 85% of the student body. PTA raised $2,800.00, while providing a healthy, family oriented event.
We are pleased to introduce SAMMY (Students Achieving Morals and Manners Yearlong). SAMMY the Beaver promotes a school-wide social skills and character development program. Each week SAMMY and a guest bring a new insight to our students about social skills and interactions. Beaver students are excited to tune in to our announcements and see what message he has for the week. Click here to see a sample Insight of the Week.
