Measures of Academic Progress
During the week of September 15 students will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®). We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of math and reading. This is a new test this year, replacing the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and progress monitoring assessments given in the past. Students will take the MAP assessment on computers in the computer lab.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. And with MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth. Over the next few days, your child will spend a total of about two hours completing these tests. Learn more...
Grade Level Websites
Clear communication between school and home is vital to student success and academic growth. At Beaver MST, we understand the importance of clear, consistent communication and we are always looking for ways to improve how we communicate. As technology changes, so should the way we communicate and involve parents in the learning process. Over the course of the school year classroom teachers will maintain grade level websites and content specific blogs to disseminate information and share content. You can visit grade level sites for general grade level information on upcoming field trips, projects, dates, etc. For information on specific contents areas or assignments, visit the blogs or pages that are linked to the websites.

We are excited to introduce our newest faculty member, SAMMY (Students Achieving Morals and Manners Yearlong). SAMMY the beaver promotes a school-wide social skills and character development program. Each week SAMMY will bring new insight to our students about social skills and how to interact with others. Guests will come on our daily video announcements with SAMMY to discuss and explain the social skill or Insight of the Week. Sometimes he doesn’t always say the right thing and the guest will provide clarification. Beaver students are always excited to tune in to our announcements and see what message he has for the week.
