Garland ISD

The Caldwell Elementary library provides a large collection of well-selected books for use by teachers and students. Our library is fully automated and provides services for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. We also have many Spanish language books to support our bilingual program here at Caldwell.

The library is staffed by Shannon Burch, certified librarian. Hours of operation are from 8:00-3:15 every school day. Services provided include book circulation, Accelerated Reader support, and library lessons, including the research process and literature appreciation.

Each student in the school visits the library at least once a week with their class. All classes are 45 minutes long.

First, second, and third graders may check out one book at a time, and fourth and fifth graders may check out two.

Library books are checked out for 7 days and may be returned early or renewed for another week. There are no overdue charges but a student will not be allowed to check out if they have an overdue book.

If a book is lost or damaged, students will be asked to pay a replacement fee.

Each year, our students participate in the Six Flags Reading Club, Accelerated Reader, Pizza Hut Reading, and the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

An annual Book Fair is also scheduled.
