Getting ready for middle school
Curious about the transition from elementary school to middle school? Parents are invited to Garland ISD's Elementary School Expo on Thursday, February 26 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Curtis Culwell Center. Parents can browse at the different middle school information booths and begin college and career planning with their student. Parents can also check out each middle school's website.
Getting ready to do your best
Have you heard about the new galaxy just discovered at the Classical Center at Vial? Students have been actively engaged in its exploration. Students can practice math and reading skills at school and at home using this new resource. Each student has his/her own log in for probing this Education Galaxy. If you have questions about this resource or the student log in, please contact your child's teacher.
Getting ready for Kindergarten
We know that many of our families have younger children that will be starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2015. Garland ISD families have access to an online subscription with Ready Rosie. Help prepare your child for academic success with interactive activities and videos. Sign up today! August will be here sooner than we expect.
Getting ready for Choice of School
The Garland ISD Choice of School period has started for the 2015-2016 school year. Fifth grade students need to submit their choice of school forms for middle school to their current elementary school by Friday, February 20. The elementary choice of school period begins on Thursday, March 19 and ends on Friday, April 17. Elementary students will receive those forms after Spring Break.
Getting ready for their future
Recently the Classical Center at Vial participated in community contests. Two of our students were awarded for their efforts. They are getting ready to fill those college applications with achievements now. We are so proud of:
Lila Ardito who won 1st place in the Garland ISD SumDog math contest. She answered 944/1,000 questions correctly. Way to go!
Out of 1,179 entries, Melanie Ramirez won 2nd place in the Stormwater Essay contest sponsored by the City of Garland Stormwater Management department. She won $150 for herself and $150 for her teacher.
