Music teacher - Luis Fernandez

 

Here at Abbett we strive to become musically literate by singing, moving, and playing instruments. We have several performances over the year giving each student the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in class. 

In addition, the Abbett Honor Choir is open for 4th and 5th graders to join at the beginning of the school year, giving students more opportunities to perform and work in an ensemble. In the Fall semester we have a winter concert in December, and in the Spring semester we have a Spring concert in May.

All About the Arts

In Garland ISD, we strive to have a robust art program where our students can learn about different art movements, techniques, mediums, continents, cultures and, learn about some of the master artists from the past. We want every young artist to learn art history, academic visual arts vocabulary, with interdisciplinary connections that will enable them to find themselves and develop who they are as artists.

As part of the VAPA (Visual Arts & Performing Arts) elementary curriculum, your child will be able to virtually travel around the world and visit other continents, learn about their culture and their contributions to the art world. Our focus per grade level is as follows:

Abbett Fine Arts Night

On our Fine Arts Night, (new date announced in May) also known as Camp Abbett!  All students and families are invited to attend. All of our students’ artwork throughout the school year will be displayed. Also, the event will provide students and families the opportunity to create arts and crafts together!  The music teacher will help our students perform different songs for their families. For the music performances, we will go in grade order (kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th) and all families are welcome to watch our amazing artists perform and create art together!
