Students may check out up to 3 books at a time. 

• Books are due every 3 weeks.
• Magazines are due every week.

Overdue email notices automatically send on Monday mornings once an item is overdue.

Overdue books

Fines are not charged for overdue books, however, we appreciate the books returned in a timely manner. If you need to keep a book for longer than the 3 weeks, please renew it. You may renew a book up to 2 times, for a total of 9 weeks. Then, it needs to be returned so the next person may read the book. If the book has not been returned or renewed for 30 days, it becomes a lost book. 

Lost books

If a book is lost or damaged, the student will need to pay a replacement fee. It is the student's responsibility to talk with the librarian to find out the price for replacing the book. The fee may be paid in full, or in payments. 

The replacement fee may be paid in cash or check made out to Austin Academy. This money goes into a book fund where replacement books and new books are purchased. 

Found books

If you find a library book that was already paid for, you will receive a refund. All refunds are processed through the district accounting office and paid by check sent to the primary adult at the address on file in Skyward. Note that this process may take up to 2 - 3 weeks. 

The AAE library is open in the mornings from 8:15 - 8:45 on Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday, and Friday. 

The library is open most afternoons until 4:15. If you need to use the library, please talk to the librarian so that we can set up an appointment. 

Students may come into the library to check out/check in books in-between classes. Most teachers also have library passes, if you need to come during a class. 

Students visit the library approximately every 3 weeks through literacy enrichment classes for 6th grade and English classes for 7th and 8th grade.

Austin Academy’s library is serious about series. Students can read from beginning to end in over 875 series.  From fantasy, sci-fi, humor and adventure to mystery, historical fiction, realistic fiction and romance, there is a series that fits everyone’s reading pleasure. Finding a good series to read is one way to really get hooked on reading!

Austin students love to read and love to recommend their favorite books to each other. A great way that students are reconnecting to great books is through Austin's eBook and audiobook collection. Whether it's a Kindle, Nook, iPad, phone or computer, students can check out eBooks and audiobook for the library's Destiny Discover or MackinVia and read them on their electronic devices.
