About Alex Harrison
Alex Harrison, band director

Alex Harrison is a graduate from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Before being a proud Bearkat, Mr. Harrison was in The Woodlands, Texas where he spent the majority of his childhood and graduated from The Woodlands College Park High School. At Sam Houston State, Mr. Harrison was a part of many great ensembles where he learned to love making great music with great people. These ensembles included Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Tuba Euphonium Quartet, Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Bearkat Marching Band. Also at Sam Houston State, he spent the summer of 2013 marching with Drum Corp Internationals’ Madison Scouts, which is based out of Madison, Wisconsin. Additionally, Mr. Harrison spent four years teaching private brass lessons and marching band at his high school alma mater. Mr. Harrison also spent five of his summers as a counselor at Sam Houston’s Summer Music Camps. Mr. Harrison started on Trumpet in 5th grade and switched to Euphonium and Tuba in 6th grade, and he has played Tuba ever since.  He is very excited to be a part of the team at Austin Academy.
