Our AAE Pentathlon teams had the opportunity to compete at the GISD District Pentathlon Competition on Saturday, March 6 where they qualified for regionals. They then competed at the Region 3 Pentathlon Competition on Saturday, April 10.

Garland District competition

Austin Academy took two teams at each grade level and 22 alternates. These students worked all year to learn about the Cold War, and in total they earned 191 individual medals. Seventh grade Team 1 won first place for their grade level with a score of 16,629. Eighth grade Team 1 won first place for their grade level with a score of 15,903. Seventh grade Team 1 had the highest score in the entire competition. We are so proud of them!

Super Quiz was given as individual tests instead of the team relay event where students get to work together. Seventh Grade Team 2 and Eighth grade Team 2 each won first place in Super Quiz! Seventh grade Team 1 and Eighth grade Team 1 won second place in Super Quiz.

Team 1 for each grade level will advance to the Regional/State competition on Saturday, April 10.

Overall it was a huge success and we could not be more proud of these kids for working through the challenges of this year. Many of them spent multiple Saturdays with us covering material on Google Meet since we couldn’t have any study days this year. If you have any of the students listed on the attachment please congratulate them on their hard work! As always, thank you for supporting these students in the classroom! They couldn’t do what they do without the support of all of their teachers!

Region 3 Pentathlon competition

Austin Academy is so proud and would like to congratulate the seventh grade Pentathlon team and Mrs. Patterson on their 1st place win at the Region 3 Pentathlon Competition. Once again, they earned the highest score of the entire competition! They earned 44 individual medals, completely sweeping 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall in all three divisions.

The eighth grade team earned 35 individual medals and placed 2nd for their grade level.

The seventh grade team is excitedly awaiting final state rankings to see if they will have the opportunity to compete at this year's virtual National Competition!

Our Pentathlon teams compete at the district level and bring home first place.
