Mrs. McClure is entering her 21st year in public education and is honored to serve as Assistant Principal of Austin Academy for Excellence. Mrs. McClure’s career began as a 4th grade self-contained teacher in Marshall Independent School District and Jefferson Independent School District. Following six years of service within Marshall and Jefferson ISD, Mrs. McClure joined Garland ISD as an elementary support specialist, elementary Assistant Principal of a classical magnet, a middle school Assistant Principal of a gifted and talented magnet IB/MYP, and an Elementary Principal. Additionally, she served as a secondary instructional coordinator at DeSoto High School in DeSoto ISD and Elementary Principal in Chapel Hill ISD. These educational experiences have afforded her the opportunity to work in diverse Title I schools to enhance student’s academic growth and close achievement gaps.
As a first-generation college graduate, Mrs. McClure received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wiley University, Masters in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler, and Masters in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University. She is an advocate for equity and excellence for all students and believes all students can achieve. Her goal is to remove any barriers to success, so that students can strive to reach their personal best as problem solvers and lifelong learners. With a well-coordinated approach involving stakeholders and community partners, this can significantly enhance the holistic development of students: social, emotional, ethical and academic.
Mrs. McClure enjoys sewing, attending sporting events, cooking family dinners hosted in their home, fishing, and traveling. She has been married to her greatest supporter, Anthony, for nine years. Anthony is also a part of The Great Garland, USA.
