Interim Principal

Interim Principal, Dr. Susie Fegraeus

I am honored and thrilled to be writing to you to introduce myself as the Interim Principal of Back Elementary School! I couldn’t be more excited to join the Bulldog team in starting up this school year. In every conversation regarding the school, the pride in and dedication to the school has shone through. One of the TOP 3 elementary schools in the State! You can’t get much better! How lucky I am to have been placed here!

I’m coming to Back Elementary School with 38 years of service at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I have taught at all 3 levels, elementary, middle, and high school, and have served as an assistant principal and principal at both the middle and high school levels. Since my retirement, I have also gained experience at the college level, serving as an adjunct professor for the Education Department at SMU. I have served as a substitute as a classroom teacher, an Interim Assistant Principal and Interim Principal within the Garland ISD, as needed over the past 10 years, which has allowed me to gain experience as an Interim Assistant Principal and Principal at the elementary levels as well. Since I never took a “break” from teaching, I am working on my 49th year in education. What a valuable “ride” I have had and have loved every minute of it!

My husband and I have been married for 48 years, and we have two sons, both graduates of Naaman Forest HS and 2 grandsons, 1 in Garland HS and 1 in Austin Academy.

I feel very much at home in the Garland ISD and am doing what I enjoy most, working with people, big and little. It’s a dream I’ve had since my 3rd grade year, and my heart is happy doing it!

Assistant Principal Teresa Kinney

Hello, I am Teresa Kinney and I am beyond excited to be the Assistant Principal at Back Elementary. Back is a brilliant gem in Garland ISD. Prior to Back my educational experience included: Assistant Principal at Sellers Middle School, Interventionist at Stephens Elementary, special education teacher, substitute teacher for GISD (mainly at Jackson Technology Center for Math and Science), and computer literacy at Mineral Wells Junior High where I was also the spirit team coach. My experience beyond the educational realm also involves serving as an Executive Leader for a large corporation. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Business from Texas Tech University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce. When I am not at school, I spend most of my time reading, cooking or with my family. I have a large passion for basketball and tennis. Bulldogs, get ready for a fun filled adventure! I want to assist each of you to take ownership of your learning in order that you can soar to new heights.
