Field trips enhance student learning by developing critical thinking skills, improving student knowledge about a subject, and teaching tolerance and love of different cultures and history.
PreK-5th grades participate in 2 field trips each year.
Technology in the classroom and beyond
Back Elementary features 2 computer labs with over 60 computers. Each grade level has iPads for use in special projects and each classroom has desktop computers available for research, AR testing and educational software.
University Interscholastic League (UIL)
UIL A+ Academics includes 20 different events for grades 2-5. These events span the curriculum - they are designed to complement and expand upon what students learn in the classroom, both through learning specific subject knowledge, and through learning skills that are valuable in many disciplines. Students choose from categories like Storytelling, Creative Writing and Number Sense. Students must have a signed permission form from their parents, be available for tryouts and participate in practice sessions.

DimensionU consists of four engaging and interactive multiplayer video games that focus on core skills in math and literacy. Each game is designed with unique features that bring out distinct academic and strategic skills in students.
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
Our middle and high school students collaborate with parents, teachers and school counselors to create a personalized college & career plan with Naviance.
