Awards, incentives and recognition

High-fives in the hallways, smiles and a positive way-to-go are common sights and sounds at Back Elementary. Daily encouragement and a positive atmosphere provides a friendly, nurturing environment for students.

Attendance

Attendance at school is important and we encourage and motivate students with several special recognition awards.

  • Attendance cart - At the end of the grading period, all classes reaching a goal of 98% or more attendance receives a visit from the attendance cart, filled with treats!
  • Perfect attendance award - during the Award Ceremony, each student achieving perfect attendance for the school year is awarded a certificate.
  • Free dress - our most popular award, on Friday of each week, classes achieving a 98% or more attendance receive a week of free dress!  A flyer will go home if your child's class made this outstanding goal.

Awards ceremony

The Awards Ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements and effort in our students every grading period. The Awards Ceremony takes place in the cafeteria and parents, grandparents and family members are invited to attend. Check the Back Calendar for event information, dates and times. A valid picture ID is required when checking in at the front office.

Birthdays

Students are recognized on the announcements for their birthday.  When a child's birthday falls on a weekend or holiday, their names are called the day before so all students are recognized.  Each child gets a visit by the Birthday Brigade and receives a birthday poster, pencil and treat.

Bulldog of the week

Each week, one student is chosen from each class to receive recognition for outstanding performance in grades, citizenship, diligence and other positive traits.  Students are recognized on the school morning announcements, a group picture shared on social media and a prize.

Bulldog of the month

Each month, three students are chosen to receive recognition for outstanding performance in grades, citizenship, diligence and other positive traits.  Students are recognized on the school morning announcements, a group picture shared on social media and a prize.
