Welcome to Art ! I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing school with such awesome students and staff. I look forward every day to sharing my knowledge and love of art with my students.
Art activities and happenings
The Art Room is a place of excitement and energy as students learn about artists, art styles and the role of art throughout history.
It is also a place to get quiet, to focus and to reflect as students create their own masterpieces. Students experience working with a variety of materials and also learn specific techniques which will enhance their artistic skills.
All grade levels learn about the elements of art and principles of design and follow the GISD comprehensive curriculum which is aligned with the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
Student work is also exhibited at the annual GISD Elementary Art Show at the South Garland Branch Library. All students have the opportunity to participate in art contests and exhibits that showcase student work in the community and surrounding areas of Dallas-Ft. Worth. Student work is displayed in the hallways throughout the school year.
Art club
Students in grades 4th - 5th grade meet weekly after-school for Beaver Tech Art Club. Students collaborate and learn to work together to bring out the talents of all students. Group projects as well as individual works are created as students spread out, listen to music and create in an Art studio setting.
Special projects have included painting murals and creating altars for the Day of the Dead Festival.

Art tips for parents
Allow your child to discover their own unique ways of expression by having access to crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint and chalk. Better yet, sit and create some art together with your child.
Ask your children to share with you what they have learned in art class and proudly display their work in your home or office!
Visit some of the Art museums in the DFW area. Check their websites for special family and children’s events!
