Campus Principal

Principal King has been an educator since 1993, beginning his career soon after exiting the U.S. Army, during which time he served his country as a Russian linguist and communications analyst.

In Deridder, Louisiana, Mr. King taught Spanish and 8th Grade Studies and was the first teacher in the State to facilitate the World of Work 2000 Technology Lab System. He then moved to DeQuincy, Louisiana to teach Spanish and coach football prior to moving to the DFW area. Mr. King taught Spanish and AVID in the Richardson ISD before accepting a position as assistant principal in the Carrollton-Famers Branch ISD. The next move brought Mr. King home to Garland ISD as an assistant principal at Sam Houston Middle School. Since 2022 he has served as Brandenburg’s building principal.

Mr. King received his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Education in 1987 from Oklahoma State University, his Diploma in Russian Studies from the Defense Language Institute in 1989 in Monterey, California, and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration in 2006 from Texas A&M Commerce.

During his tenure with the Braves, Brandenburg has earned the Magnet Schools of America National Merit School of Distinction twice. In 2026, he was selected as one of four secondary principals across the United States as a finalist for AVID’s Global Achievement Secondary Principal of the Year.

Mr. King believes that all children can achieve, that all students deserve the same opportunities for a solid education and that it is his responsibility to lead the ship in the continued success of a campus already housed in a rich tradition of classical learning, coupled with top-notch fine arts and athletics programs. He garners the collective efforts of his leadership team and staff to continually raise the bar on what it means to be a Brandenburg Brave, where the vision is to set the standard for excellence in academics, arts, and competition.

Principal King has been married to his wife Angela, who is a librarian in GISD, since 2003. They have two daughters, Annalia and Addison, both of whom attended GISD schools. On his time off you will find Mr. King working his land in

Oklahoma, watching Oklahoma State University football games, or attending church services. He is an avid gardener and birdwatcher, hunter and fisherman.

8th Grade Assistant Principal

Gloria DeBaun is a lifelong learner and professional educator with over twenty years of experience in education. Her journey as an educator began with Mesquite ISD where she taught in bilingual elementary classes for eight years. After almost a decade with MISD, the DeBauns moved overseas to teach with U.N. schools. Mrs. DeBaun served as a classroom teacher and team lead facilitator for twelve years in three countries: Kuwait, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. 

After teaching internationally for twelve years the DeBauns moved back home to North Texas where Mrs. DeBaun served as a Middle School Instructional Coach with Richardson ISD. She then followed the leadership pipeline to Garland ISD where she served as an Instructional Specialist and district presenter. Recently, Mrs. DeBaun accepted a promotion to serve as an Assistant Principal with the Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School. 

Mrs. DeBaun holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Business from the University of North Texas, a Masters degree from Texas A&M Commerce in Education with a focus in Reading instruction and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and School Administration from Lamar University.

Mrs. DeBaun is a natural leader who strives to communicate clearly and maintains high expectations to continually grow and lead by example. Her drive and ability to focus on the big picture while zooming in on the finer details along with her experience and commitment to care for her coworkers and students will contribute to the culture of excellence that CCBMS is renowned for. 
 

7th Grade Assistant Principal

James Johnson is an experienced educational leader with a passion for developing students academically, socially, and emotionally. With a background in campus administration and instructional leadership, he is dedicated to creating a culture where students are challenged to think critically, pursue excellence, and grow in character.

Throughout his career, Mr. Johnson has worked closely with teachers, students, and families to foster positive relationships and high expectations that support student success. He believes that meaningful learning occurs when strong academics are paired with a nurturing environment that encourages responsibility, integrity, and lifelong curiosity.

As a leader at the Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School, Mr. Johnson is committed to advancing the school’s mission of preparing students for life’s challenges and opportunities through traditional and innovative learning experiences that foster rigor, creativity, self-efficacy, and community. He is dedicated to supporting the campus vision of setting the middle school standard for excellence in academics, the arts, and competition. Through servant leadership, collaboration, and a student-centered approach, he strives to ensure every student is empowered to achieve their highest potential and make meaningful contributions to their community.

Outside of school, Mr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family, following baseball, studying leadership principles, and serving his community.

6th Grade Assistant Principal

Isis Tosado Rodriguez serves as the Assistant Principal at the Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School in Garland ISD. With more than two decades of experience in education, she is committed to creating learning environments where every student is challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Mrs. Tosado-Rodriguez began her career as an early childhood educator at a small private school in Puerto Rico, where her passion for student success first took root. She later transitioned to teaching secondary social studies, inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding of history and civic responsibility. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education (History) from the University of Puerto Rico–Río Piedras and pursued graduate studies in History at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico before earning her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Arlington. After relocating to Texas, she taught U.S. History at Bussey Middle School before serving as an Instructional Design Facilitator for Garland ISD, where she supported teachers through instructional coaching, curriculum implementation, and professional learning.

As Assistant Principal, Mrs. Tosado-Rodriguez leads instructional improvement efforts focused on student achievement, teacher development, and high-quality learning experiences. She partners closely with teachers to strengthen instruction through coaching, data-informed decision-making, and collaborative professional learning. Her work is centered on fostering a culture of academic excellence, continuous improvement, and meaningful learning for every student.

A bilingual educator fluent in English and Spanish, Mrs. Tosado-Rodriguez believes that strong schools are built through collaboration, a commitment to continuous growth, and the resilience to embrace challenges as opportunities for learning. She is dedicated to helping the Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School fulfill its vision of setting the middle school standard for excellence in academics, arts, and competition.

Outside of school, Mrs. Tosado-Rodriguez is a proud wife and mother of two. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and their pets, believing that the relationships, perseverance, and joy cultivated at home are the same qualities that help students and educators thrive.
