There are a variety of opportunities for students to be positively recognized on campus. Brandenburg students have consistently won awards for academic, athletic, musical and artistic abilities.
Hispanic Heritage Month
JA BizTown in partnership with GISD, combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular program allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Recently, two of our own Brandenburg students, Elim Girma and Rediet Alehubel, were invited to represent GISD at a Business Hall of Fame event sponsored by Junior Achievement of Dallas.
This event celebrated and honored the achievements of the community’s most influential business and philanthropic leaders. The evening was designed to inspire our future leaders and it was an honor for our students to be chosen to speak about their experiences at JA BizTown.
The Texas Education Agency recently released new school district ratings measuring academic performance for 2018. Brandenburg is the only GISD middle school campus to receive all seven Distinction Designations! AWESOME JOB! We are so proud of our Braves!
Blue Ribbon School
The U.S. Department of Education has been honoring “Blue Ribbon” public and private schools around the nation for maintaining high goals, reinforcing academic achievement and closing the achievement gap between affluent students and disadvantage students. In 2009, the Classical Center @ Brandenburg Middle School was one of twenty-six Texas public schools awarded this distinguished honor. AWESOME JOB BRAVES!
