At Brandenburg Middle School, service isn't just something we teach—it's something we live. This year, our entire staff began the school year by volunteering together at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), demonstrating the values we hope to instill in our students every day.
Making a Tangible Difference
During our volunteer shift at FMSC, staff members hand-packed nutritious meals consisting of rice, soy, dried vegetables, and a specially formulated blend of vitamins and minerals. These meals are sealed, boxed, and shipped to partners around the world who distribute them to children in need. In just two hours, our team had the opportunity to impact hundreds of children's lives—a truly humbling and rewarding experience.
Building Community Through Service
Beyond the critical work of fighting hunger, this volunteer experience served as a valuable team-building opportunity for our staff. Working side by side to accomplish something meaningful together strengthened our sense of community and reminded us why we're educators—to make a positive impact on young lives, both near and far.
The experience at FMSC created lasting memories for the Brandenburg staff and reinforced our commitment to serving not only our students but also children around the world who face challenges we may never fully understand.
Modeling Service for Our Students
By starting our year with service, we hoped to demonstrate to our students that giving back to our community and the world is an essential part of being a responsible citizen. At Brandenburg, we believe that actions speak louder than words, and we're proud to role model the importance of service for the young people we serve every day.
Together, we're building a culture of compassion, generosity, and global awareness—one meal, one volunteer shift, and one student at a time.
