Marisa Bravo is the 8th grade school counselor at Brandenburg. This is her 2nd year at Brandenburg and her 22nd year with Garland ISD. For the past 9 years, she has been working as a school counselor at a couple of other GISD campuses—Memorial Pathway Academy and Lyles Middle School. Prior to being a school counselor, she was an English teacher for 12 years at several GISD campuses—O'Banion Middle School, Sachse High School, and Memorial Pathway Academy.

Her educational background was a bit of a journey. She first earned an associate's degree from Collin College. She spent a bit of time at the University of North Texas, eventually earning her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. For her final degree, she finished her studies at Amberton University, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling.

Marisa and her husband, Lupe, have been married 27 years and planted their roots up the road in Wylie. They are the proud parents of 2 young adult children, Sophia (22) and Elias (19). They have learned and grown as parents and enjoy continuing to help their kids learn and grow through the young adult stage. Marisa also has 2 pet cat kiddos—Alice and Leo. In her free time, she loves to relax and enjoy a good night out—binge-watching a show, checking out a cover band, or supporting one of her favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and FC Dallas.

As a school counselor, Marisa enjoys working with students and families as they navigate through the middle school years. Middle school can be a roller coaster ride for all involved, but she wants to help remind everyone that they are not riding alone and to seek support when needed. She is honored to be part of the Brandenburg counseling team supporting students and families.
