Is Your Student College Ready?

For the best chance of making your visions of success a reality, preparing for your student's future has to start much earlier than graduation. GISD believes that "College and Career Readiness" begins in elementary school and encompasses a strong academic foundation. Additionally, GISD has identified some key steps students should take to get ready, setting the stage for future success.

Bullock Is An AVID Campus

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. What does this look like at our school? Here at Bullock we provide a safe, risk-free culture where we are setting high expectations and preparing students to be college and career bound by teaching them important organizational and academic strategies.

We live in a rapidly changing global society. Right now, elementary students are developing skills to ready themselves for a future in which their job may not even have been created yet. AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in this global society in which we live.

At Bullock, we are providing opportunities to support students’ academic and social growth to enable them to reach their highest potential. We are accomplishing this by teaching organization, time management, study skills, critical thinking, and collaboration. We are enabling students to be goal setters, problem solvers, and leaders.

The key to student success:

High expectations + AVID strategies = Lifelong student achievement
