Student Absence Notification & Attendance Recognition

If your child is absent from school, please send a note to the office with the following information:

·         Child's Name

·         Child's ID Number

·         Teacher's Name

·         Date(s) of Absence

·         Reason for Absence

Please submit this note as soon as your child returns to school. This helps us ensure accurate attendance records.

Attendance Recognition:
At the end of each 9-week grading period, the two classes with the highest attendance will be recognized during morning announcements. These classes will:

·         Receive the Attendance Trophy to display for the next 9 weeks

·         Be awarded a Certificate of Achievement to hang in the classroom

·         Have their picture taken with the trophy

Pre-K Enrollment Now Open at Cisneros!

Dear Parents,

It’s not too late to enroll your child at the Cisneros Pre-K campus! We are still accepting applications and would love to welcome your child to our learning community.

To begin the enrollment process, please contact Michelle DeLeon by phone or email for assistance.

When enrolling, please bring the following required documents:

• Proof of Residency in GISD
  (Current lease agreement or most recent utility bill – water, gas, or electric)

• Child’s Birth Certificate

• Up-to-date Immunization Records

• Social Security Card (if available)

Head Start applications are now being accepted at Cisneros for children 4 years old on or before September 1st,2024. Child Care Group Head Start has partnered with Garland ISD for the past 5 years to support income eligible families in our community, however, space is limited apply now.

Benefits include-lower student/teacher ratio, school supplies, snacks, special events, additional Resource teacher to support the students, and family services.

Student ID Badges – Safety & Security Reminder

Wearing an ID badge is an important part of maintaining safety and security on our school campus. All students will be provided with a school-issued ID badge, which must be worn every day while at school.

If a student loses their ID badge, a replacement can be purchased for $5.00 through the school office.

Dismissal Procedures – Student Safety First

During dismissal, students will be released from their teacher’s designated area.

To ensure the safety of all students, the adult picking up the child must present the official student pick-up tag.

If you do not have a pick-up tag with you, you will be required to report to the front office through the main entrance and present valid identification.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and ensuring a smooth dismissal process.

Cisneros Pre-K Visitor Guidelines
Ensuring a Safe and Secure Learning Environment for All

For the safety of all our students, we kindly ask all visitors to follow these important guidelines:

• All visitors must sign in at the front office upon arrival. Please bring a state-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.

• Office staff will assist you if you need to contact your child or speak with their teacher.

• All adults must wear a visitor badge while in the building.

• Upon check-in, you will receive a visitor tag that identifies you as an authorized guest and confirms you have signed in.

• To help us assist you more quickly, please avoid using your cell phone while in the office.

• Use only the front entrance to enter the building. All other doors remain locked during the school day for student safety.

Free Breakfast for All Students

We are excited to offer free breakfast to all students, served daily in the classrooms at no cost to families.

To help us make the most of this opportunity, please note the following:

• Students must arrive by 7:45 a.m. in order to receive breakfast.

• Parents will not be permitted to eat breakfast with their children, as meals are served in the classroom setting.

Student Dress Guidelines

While there is no required school uniform, we ask that students come to school neatly dressed and appropriately for the weather and daily activities.

For safety and comfort, please do not send students in high heels or flip-flops.

Update Contact Information Promptly

It is extremely important that the school has up-to-date contact information for each student.

Please notify the school immediately if there is any change in:

• Telephone number

• Home address

• Emergency contact number

• Parent/guardian place of employment

In case of illness or injury, we must also have the name and phone number of a local emergency contact (other than a parent or guardian) who can be reached if needed.

If your address has changed, you must provide new proof of residency to the Data Clerk. Acceptable documents include:

• Gas bill

• Electric bill

• Current lease agreement

  All GISD schools use Skylert, an automated phone messaging system, to keep families informed with:

• Important reminders

• School news and updates

• Emergency notifications

• Important Safety Reminder:
  As required by state law, the use of cell phones in school crossing zones is strictly prohibited unless using a hands-free device.

  To ensure you receive these messages, please make sure the school office has your most current phone numbers on file.

Arrival

• Time: Parents, student shuttles, and daycares should arrive at 7:40 a.m. at the designated area.
•  Arrival after 8:00 a.m. you will need to escort your child to the front office for entrance. Parents please be aware that at 8:10 a.m. the tardy bell will ring and your child will be counted tardy.
• Drop-off locations:  These vary by hallway. Discuss this with your child's teacher.
• Parents: You must park and walk your child to the door for drop-off.
• Student Badges: Students must wear their ID badge every day.

Dismissal

• Time: Students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m. Parents, student shuttles, and daycares pick up at 3:30 p.m. at the designated area.
• Pick-up Locations: These also vary by hallway. Confirm with your child's teacher.
• Pick-up Tags: An adult must have a school-issued pick-up tag and walk up to the dismissal doors to pick up their child. This is for security purposes.
• Security: For security purposes, the school requires a school-issued car tag. 
• If a parent or authorized individual does not have the school-issued pick-up tag at dismissal, they must park and report to the front office.  They will need to present a valid photo identification (e.g. driver's license, state ID, or a government issued ID) for verification.  This measure ensures that students are release only to individuals authorized by the school, prioritizing student safety. While it may cause a slight delay, it is a necessary step to maintain a secure environment.
