Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Get ready for our pumpkin decorating contest! Students are invited to decorate a pumpkin as their favorite book character. This will be something fun for the whole family! Students may bring their pumpkins to the school library and enter it into the contest beginning October 16th.

All entries must be received by Tuesday, October 22th at 8:15 a.m.

Contest Rules:

  • Absolutely NO CARVED pumpkins. Carved pumpkins rot quickly and attract bugs. Carved pumpkins will not be entered into the contest and will be sent back home.

  • Pumpkins may be painted, hot glued, or colored. You may use a variety of materials to decorate your pumpkin. Pumpkins will be judged across three categories: Most creative, funniest, and best storybook character. First place in each category will win a prize.

  • Pumpkins should represent a favorite children’s book character. You must write the title and author of the book on the entry form.  NO MOVIES!

  • Students must be able to carry their own pumpkin, so do not choose a pumpkin that is too large. Pumpkins must be able to fit into your student’s lap or be inside a bag if transporting on a daycare bus or bus.

  • Do not write your name anywhere on the pumpkin. Your name will be on the entry form only.

  • All pumpkins must be taken home by Wednesday, October 30th.

Making connections in the library

5th grade came to the library and channeled their inner Michelangelo. They were able to experience a tiny bit of what he went through when he painted the Sistine Chapel. They had a blast!
