Music

From Ms. Grayson: I am so excited to serve as the Music Teacher and Choir Director for Cooper Elementary! My goal is to maintain an environment where students feel inspired, confident, and free to express themselves through singing, movement, and playing instruments. Students will learn how to read, write and compose rhythmic and melodic patterns, use correct music vocabulary, become independent music makers, and more.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Oklahoma City University, and have been teaching Elementary Music for 11 years. My philosophy of education is that students learn the most when they are having fun and enjoying themselves. Students in my music classroom may be found enjoying learning through music games, team activities, and building confidence using social and emotional strategies.

The main instruments I play are the clarinet and piano. When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing the clarinet in my community band, practicing the piano, reading a good book, or spending quality time with my friends and family.

Cooper Honor Choir

The Cooper Honor Choir is an extracurricular program for 3rd-5th Grade students that meets on Mondays after school.

The Honor Choir is made up of students who desire to develop their vocal skills and leadership abilities. During rehearsals, students will focus on vocal techniques, teamwork, responsibility, and preparation for performances. The choir will have the opportunity to perform at various events throughout the school year, both on and off campus.
