Dear Comet Community,

As we kick off the 2024-2025 school year, I am delighted to welcome back our returning families and extend a heartfelt greeting to those joining us for the first time. Our theme for this year is "Knock It Out of the Park," symbolizing our commitment to excellence, perseverance, and achieving our very best in all endeavors.

Our dedicated team of educators and staff has been preparing to provide an outstanding educational experience. We have a dynamic year planned, filled with innovative programs, engaging curriculum, and activities designed to inspire a love of learning and foster a sense of community.

"Knock It Out of the Park" is more than just a theme—it's a mindset. We aim to hit home runs in every aspect of our school life, from academic achievements to extracurricular participation and community involvement. We are committed to supporting every student in reaching their full potential and celebrating their successes, big and small.

We recognize that the foundation of our students’ success is a strong partnership between home and school. Your involvement and support are crucial, whether through volunteering, attending school events, or engaging with your child’s learning journey. Together, we can create an environment where our students feel valued, empowered, and motivated to excel.

Our doors are always open, and we encourage you to share your ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback. Let’s work together to make this school year one where we truly "Knock It Out of the Park" for all our students.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication. Here’s to a remarkable school year ahead!

Yours in education,

Principal Fairfax

Hello Comet Community!

My name is Mrs. Monica Saldaña, your proud Assistant Principal. This is my second year at Couch Collegiate Prep & second year with Garland ISD.

With over 15 years in education, all of which were in Dallas ISD, I've had the privilege of wearing many hats, starting as an elementary school teacher assistant, then as a classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. I am a reading & writing teacher at heart! I then served as an instructional literacy coach and eventually earned my Master's degree in Educational Leadership which allowed me to transition into administration as an Assistant Principal. I have served my campuses in this role at both the elementary & middle school levels. I've always been passionate about building relationships with students and I truly feel that is at the heart of the success I have personally experienced in working with our youth. I see challenges as opportunities, and am motivated by creating innovative ways to enhance our school community & each child’s educational experience.

On the personal side, I'm a proud wife to my husband, AJ and we share the blessing of our son, Elijah. I always refer to them as “my  boys”. Our family loves spending time together; watching movies, going to live music & sporting events, and getting together every Sunday at my mom’s house along with my brother and his family for lunch.

I'm thrilled to be part of our school's journey, especially this year as we embrace the theme of "Knocking it Out of the Park." I look forward to continuing  working with our amazing students and staff to achieve great things together.I thank you for sending us your most precious possession each and every day. As a parent, I value this trust immensely. Let's make this year the best one yet!

Kindest Regards,

Monica Saldaña
