FAQ

I forgot my Chromebook. May I borrow one? No. You must bring your assigned device everyday. The Campus Technology Assistant (CTA) can only lend you a device for testing. It must be returned right away.

Can I borrow a charger? No. You must bring your charger everyday. You can also buy an extra charger.

Can I use my own personal during the day? Yes. You can connect your device to the GISDBYOD wifi. But you'll have to borrow a CB for testing.

I can't find my Chromebook. What do I do? Ask a teacher to fill out a TechHelp ticket for you right away. If the device was stolen, a police reported is needed.

I'm switching schools. Do I need to return my device? If transferring to another GISD campus- keep your device. If leaving GISD- return the Chromebook and charger.*

*Fees will be applied to a withdrawn student's Skyward account if Chromebook and charger are not returned.

Chromebooks do’s and don’ts

  • Do add stickers to decorate.
  • Do buy a protective case or sleeve for it.
  • Don’t write on it with pencil, pen, or marker.
  • Don’t switch devices with another student.
  • Don’t remove any asset or manufacture tags.

*NEW* Losing your Chromebook takes away from classroom instruction, keeps you behind on assignments, and ties up tech support for others. After the first incident, future incidents will be recorded in Review360. Continuous problems can be escalated to an office referral.

Best practices

  1. Carry your device in both hands or in your backpack.
  2. Keep your Chromebook and charger labeled with your name.
  3. Prevent drops. Never place your CB on the edge of a desk.
  4. Place your backpack down gently when your CB is inside.
  5. Finally, treat your CB like your phone. Hand with care and do not let others use it.
