Associate Principal, James Howard

My name is James Howard, and I am the proud associate principal at Coyle Middle School. I have been in education for over 20 years, and I can honestly say that it is my joy and privilege to be part of Garland ISD. I wake up every day thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the students and families at my campus and in my community. I started my career as a high school special education teacher, and then transferred to Beaver Technology Center for Math and Science. It was at that time I felt a strong desire to serve the students of the Garland Independent School district in the area of educational administration. I have served several elementary campuses as an administer, but Coyle Middle School will by my first secondary administrative assignment. I am a proud three time graduate of Dallas Baptist University. During my time at DBU, I received a BA in Psychology, MA in Counseling, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

On a personal note, I am married to the most amazing teacher in the world, Amy Howard. She is truly the best educator in the family and teaches Reading at Brandenburg Middle School. We have three wonderful children. Ethan, is following his Dad’s footprints and just graduated from DBU with a degree communications. Caleb is a senior at Rowlett High School and is a wonderful actor just waiting for the next part in the school play. Our youngest daughter Sophie, is adopted from China and will be a fifth grader at Kimberlin this year. As a family, we love Disney World and try to take a trip to Florida every year. Our personal best is 4 Disney trips in one year. It is kind of a funny story, when you have time please feel free to stop by and ask me how in the world we ended up in Orlando four times in one year. My family and I attend Gateway Community Church where I serve as an elder. This is a little about me. I would love to get to know you. Have a wonderful day, and I look forward to meeting you soon!!!!
