Mrs. Rhymes welcome letter

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

As the principal at Daugherty Elementary, it is my distinct honor and privilege to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to each and every one of you as we embark on an exciting new school year! I am thrilled to be a part of the Hornet family and eager to make this year one filled with growth, learning, and success.

Here at Daugherty Elementary, our unwavering commitment is to provide all our students with rigorous academic instruction while fostering a safe and respectful environment throughout our campus. We firmly believe that by instilling these values in our students, we can empower them to become lifelong learners, well-prepared for their future endeavors.

Professionally, I have had the opportunity to acquire invaluable knowledge and experience in the field of education. With an undergraduate degree from Park University in Computer Information Systems, a Master's degree in Bilingual Education from SMU, and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Commerce, I am dedicated to continuously enhancing the quality of education at our school. My journey in education began with eleven years of teaching, followed by four years as an assistant principal; this marks my eight year as a principal.

Daugherty Elementary is deeply committed to fostering an environment of continuous growth through engaging instruction for all students. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a supportive school community that inspires a genuine enthusiasm for learning, as we guide our students in exploring the vast array of possibilities that await them in the future.

On a personal note, family and relationships hold a special place in my heart. My husband Ken and I have loved ones scattered across various parts of Texas, from Houston to Austin and El Paso. Our family is completed by two delightful dogs and one very aloof cat, each adding joy and laughter to our lives.

As we embark on this exciting academic journey together, I encourage you to reach out to me with any concerns, suggestions, or thoughts you may have. Your input and involvement are invaluable in shaping the success of our school community. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our young learners, empowering them to reach their fullest potential.

Go Hornets!

Warm regards,

Jacqueline Rhymes
