Physical education

Welcome to P.E.

During the school year your child will be participating in Physical Education.  The elementary physical education program in the Garland I.S.D. is an integral facet of the school curriculum and as such is of an instructional nature as opposed to supervised play periods.  We believe the activities offered in the program are beneficial to the total development of the students.

Grades are assigned to students in physical education in accordance with House Bill 72 and Garland I.S.D. Grading, Grouping and Procedures Policy.  Grading components are: Skill/Performance, Knowledge of Individual, Dual, and Team Sports, Fundamental Movement, and Physical Fitness.  The letter grades S and N are used for Satisfactory and Non-satisfactory, and “-“and “+” are for behavior.

If you have any questions concerning the physical education program, please contact us at 972-494-8205.

We are looking forward to working with your child.

Sincerely,

Mr. Snelson

Ms. Hernandez- P.E. Aide

P.E. dress code

For safety reasons, we recommend students wear some type of no cleat athletic shoe with closed toes and heels.  Since girls and boys participate together for some activities, it is desirable for girls to wear shorts under dresses and skirts.

Kids heart challenge

Davis students will be helping fight heart disease in February during P.E. classes.  They will be participating in various "Hoops for Heart" activities.  Materials and information will be coming home with your child. Please help fight heart disease!

Medical information

For the protection of your child, we need to know if any medical history or present condition will limit his or her participation.  Please advise the school if any problem of this type arises during the school year.
