School spirit & history

History

Freeman Elementary opened its doors in 1949. It is one of the first elementary schools in the Garland I.S.D.  In 2005, Freeman added a new wing which houses our Kindergarten and 5th Grade classrooms, a new science lab, a new library, and new administrative offices.

As part of the 2024-25 consolidation plan, Freeman Elementary students will be relocated to 1726 Travis Street and join the students at Golden Meadows Elementary. Golden Meadows will be renamed Freeman Elementary and will function as a single school with students from both the former Freeman location and the existing Golden Meadows location.

At Freeman Elementary, we do our best to meet the needs of every child that walks through our doors. We have a dedicated staff of professionals whose purpose is to find new and innovative ways to educate and cultivate the mind of every Freeman student.

We welcome all our Freeman parents to become part of the great educational endeavor at Freeman Elementary.
