Our Academies for Excellence program for grades 6-8 is located at Austin Academy. Students who meet the minimum academic requirements (below) may apply for this magnet program.

Austin Academy offers advanced academic coursework called “Enriched Honors.” Courses in English, math, reading, social studies, and science are targeted to the needs of academically qualified students.

What about Gifted and Talented (G/T)?

The Academy for Excellence magnet program is not the same as gifted and talented services. Watch a video on the difference between G/T and magnet programs.

Parents are invited to join in on our Parent Discussion Forum. Parents can submit questions to our campus staff for a live response during our GISD Virtual School Fair. 

 

Requirements

• Combined test score of 250 (Reading, Math, Ability)
• No less than 75^th percentile in any area
• Pass all subjects on report card
• Pass STAAR
