This college-level course is designed to address a very broad interpretation of drawing issues. For example, many types of painting, printmaking, and studies for sculpture, as well as abstract and observational works, would qualify as addressing drawing issues. The portfolio is a vehicle through which students can demonstrate ability to deal with the fundamental concerns of visual arts and can thus possibly earn credit, advanced placement, or both at the college level. Supplies and material fee required. *AP courses address learning objectives with greater depth and at a faster pace along with higher expectations for student performance.

This college-level survey course focuses upon art as it relates to the development of cultures. The course fulfills the required fine arts credit and may result in college credit upon successful performance on the AP examination. It is important for students to note the purpose of this course is to prepare for the AP exam. *AP courses address learning objectives with greater depth and at a faster pace along with higher expectations for student performance

For this college-level portfolio, students are asked to demonstrate proficiency in two-dimensional design using a variety of art forms. These could include, but are not limited to, graphic design typography, digital imaging, photography, collage, fabric design, weaving, illustration, painting, and printmaking. A variety of approaches to representation, abstraction, and expression may be part of the student's portfolio. The portfolio is a vehicle through which students can demonstrate ability to deal with the fundamental concerns of visual arts and can thus possibly earn credit, advanced placement, or both at the college level. This college-level portfolio is intended to address a broad interpretation of sculptural issues in depth and space. These may include mass, volume, form, plane, light, and texture. Such elements and concepts can be articulated through additive, subtractive, and/or fabrication processes. A variety of approaches to representation, abstraction, and expression may be part of the student's portfolio. These might include, among others, traditional sculpture, architectural models, apparel, ceramics, fiber arts, or metalwork. The portfolio is a vehicle through which students can demonstrate ability to deal with the fundamental concerns of visual arts and can thus possibly earn credit, advanced placement or both at the college level. The student in Part A, through the study of Two/Three-dimensional design, will learn how to develop and organize original ideas for creative expression through a variety of media. They will also learn to analyze their work and the work of others in a historical or cultural context as well as aesthetically through the study of design and art history. The purpose of this course is to lay the foundation for the development of the IB Art/Design work done in the junior and senior year.

The students will expand the base of knowledge begun in Art I IntH through personal artistic development, research and analysis. The student is expected to express personal ideas and themes through a variety of media using appropriate vocabulary, apply design skills through a variety of media, study a selected period or style of art, as well as critique and analyze their work and that of others. The purpose of this course is to prepare the student to develop the skills necessary to successfully complete the IB Art/Design program.

The student is expected to create themes for personal artworks, analyze complex visual relationships, and produce an original body of work. Students will evaluate and justify design ideas, study art history for interpretation, and be able to analyze their work and that of others in a historical and cultural context through their personal research.
