Brandy grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where she attended schools in Caddo Parish and graduated from Caddo Magnet High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Louisiana State University in Shreveport and taught in Caddo Parish until 1997 when she moved to Texas.
After teaching in Garland ISD for a few years, she got her Masters of Education from the University of Texas A&M in Commerce. She worked in administration at the high school level for 15 years, opening Sachse High School in 2002. She stayed there for 15 years until she became the Principal of John W. Armstrong Elementary School in 2017 and was there until 2022 when she was named the Principal at the Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center.
Brandy is married with two grown sons, Colin and Cameron, and a grandson, Grayson. Both of her children are graduates of Sachse High School. Her oldest son, Colin, works in Houston in Logistics and her youngest, Cameron, serves in the US Air Force. Her husband of 28 years, Eric, is in banking and works for USAA.
