Melody Sawasaki is an experienced educational leader dedicated to expanding opportunities and outcomes for students. Her career has included roles as a mathematics teacher, magnet advisor and industry liaison, assistant principal, and district leader, with extensive experience serving students and staff in both California and Texas. She began her career at Green Dot Public Schools in Los Angeles, teaching courses ranging from Algebra I through AP Calculus, and later served at Sachse High School in a variety of leadership capacities.

Throughout her career, Melody has led initiatives focused on academic achievement, college and career readiness, and innovative learning pathways. She played a key role in implementing Algebra I intervention supports, launching P-TECH and Early College High School programs, and strengthening systems that help students achieve postsecondary success. As a campus leader, she contributed to significant gains in college, career, and military readiness and worked to increase student access to advanced educational opportunities.

Melody is passionate about supporting educators, empowering students, and building effective systems that enable schools to thrive. She believes in preparing learners for success beyond graduation while creating cultures of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis, and a Master’s in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Outside of work, Melody enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her children at volleyball and soccer games.

Mr. Buckles is an educational leader dedicated to student success, workforce readiness, and lifelong learning. A native Texan, he brings extensive experience across secondary and higher education, having served as a teacher, coach, and administrator in a variety of academic settings. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to helping students grow academically, personally, and professionally while building strong partnerships with staff, families, and community stakeholders.

Mr. Buckles holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and a Master of Sport Science in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy. His diverse educational background reflects his passion for leadership, organizational excellence, and student development.

As a leader, Mr. Buckles values collaboration, service, and continuous improvement. He is passionate about creating opportunities that prepare students for success beyond high school and helping schools develop programs that connect learning to future careers and life goals. He believes in fostering positive relationships, supporting educators, and building a culture where all students can thrive.
