Melody Sawasaki has dedicated 11 of her 15 years in education to Garland ISD. She began her career at Green Dot Public Schools in Los Angeles, teaching Algebra I through AP Calculus, and has since served at Sachse High School as a math teacher, magnet advisor/industry liaison, and assistant principal.
At Sachse, she led the Algebra I double-block initiative as Algebra CLC lead and launched the P-TECH and Early College High School programs as magnet advisor. As assistant principal, she helped the campus reach a 99% CCMR rate and increased seniors meeting TSI requirements from 46% to 53%. She is passionate about supporting staff and students, preparing learners for life after high school, and building systems that keep schools running smoothly.
Melody earned a Bachelor of Science from UC Davis and a Master’s in Education from UCLA. She is a devoted wife and mother of three and spends weekends cheering on her children at volleyball and soccer games. She is excited for this next step supporting CTE programs across seven high schools and preparing students for college and careers.
