Some classes are eligible for a Math credit. Some are also Dual Credit offering 3 hours of credit through the Dallas College System. Please talk to your Counselor about these opportunities.
Instructor
Come with us to learn Accounting which is known as the language of business. In this course, you will get a firm understanding of the financial world around you. Every day you will encounter something financial that you will need to know to keep yourself out of trouble financially. You will learn how a business runs from A-Z......Payroll, Sales, Financial Statements, Inventory, Organizing a Corporation and how to report on the millions you are making. You will have fun projects where you invest in the stock market and learn about the different funds. Learn information that less than 20% of the adult population knows. Be informed to make good sound financial decisions
for your future. This is a class you don't want to miss and will regret if you do, as most colleges require it.
Finance trading and investments
In order to rise to the top you have to understand financial terms as well as financial statements. This class will teach you basic to in depth financial terms. You will learn how to analyze financial statements so you will understand how you are doing financially and how to make the corrections needed to be wealthy. You will learn about short term and long term investments, time value of money, many of the profit ratios and how to read and understand the numbers on
a financial statement. Very few students have this opportunity in high school so why not set yourself apart and start now learning about the real world.
Learn how to understand the different investments and how to buy and sell them. You will play several competitive challenges against the other classes when you are given $1,000,000 to play with. You will be in a state of the art classroom with a live feed stock ticker tape right out of
New York. Come see what it is all about!
Business Management

Instructor
The following courses will all be involved in operating the GRCTC retail school store, The Brand. The students will acquire hands on training on all facets on how to run a business.
Entrepreneurship
As a member of this class students will learn what it takes to start, enhance, and run a business in today's market. However, this class is unique in that it integrates today’s business technology throughout the course, plus gives hands-on experience in a real business setting. Students will be learning about the basics of Entrepreneurship and at the same time will be acquiring hands on experience operating the student run retail store, The Brand. At the end of the year, students will have the opportunity to get their industry certification in Entrepreneurship and Small Business.
Retail Management
Retail Management focuses on the distribution and selling of products to consumers using various vending points such as chain stores, department stores, stand-alone stores, and various online markets. The course highlights the everyday mechanisms necessary for operating a successful retail establishment. The student is taught to evaluate methods for promoting merchandise, supervising employees, handling customer needs, and maintaining inventory.
As a member of this class you will learn what it takes to run a retail business in today's market. However, our class is unique in that it integrates today's business technology throughout the course, plus gives you hands-on experience in a real business setting. You will be learning about the basics of retail management and at the same time you will be acquiring hands-on experience operating our student run retail store, The Brand.
Advanced Marketing
As a member of this class student will learn what it takes to start, enhance, and run a business in today’s market. Students will be gaining real world, hands on training while operating our student run retail store, The Brand, at the GRCTC. In Advanced Marketing, students will gain knowledge and skills that help them become proficient in one or more of the marketing functional areas.
Students will illustrate appropriate management and research skills to solve problems related to marketing. This course covers technology, communication, and customer-service skills. Students will have the opportunity for a fee to earn a certification in the area of marketing.
