Regular school office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

School hours

8:10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Cafeteria doors open at 7:30 a.m. From 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. students in kindergarten through second grade go the cafeteria and students in third through fifth grade go to the gym. At 7:50 a.m. students are released to the classrooms. Students eat breakfast in the classroom at 7:50 a.m. All students at Handley are offered free breakfast in the classrooms. The tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m.  Students arriving after the tardy bell will be counted absent. Please refer to the Policies and Procedures regarding tardies and dismissal.

Understanding school hours

• Arrival by 8:09 a.m. is considered on time.
• Arrival by 8:10-8:19 a.m. is tardy.
• Arrival by 8:20 a.m. or later will be counted as a partial day absence. 

Announcements and pledges

The Pledge of Allegiance and The Pledge to the Texas Flag will be held each day at 8:15 a.m. over the PA system. Additional announcements may be made at the end of the day. It is imperative that students are present for daily announcements. 

Lunch times

Parents are invited to Handley each Friday to have lunch with their child. Parents wanting to eat lunch with their scholar, must enter through the front office and obtain a visitor badge through the Raptor system. For safety reasons, badges must worn at all times and parents will only be able to eat with their child.

Specials/teacher conference times

Parents needing to contact their child's teacher should do so after school hours or during their scheduled daily conference time.
