Hey Panthers, I'm your PE Coach!
My name is Coach Lucas and welcome to the best PE class you'll ever have! I’ve been teaching Health & Physical Education for 13 years. I love helping students grow stronger, more confident, and getting them excited about being active. My goal is to create a safe and fun space where every child feels included, learns healthy habits, and discovers the joy of movement. I believe in teamwork, respect, and always doing our best—both in the gym and in life.

One of my favorite quotes is: “Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” —Kay Redfield Jamison

At Handley STEM Elementary, our K–5 Health & PE program focuses on building strong bodies, healthy habits, and teamwork skills that last a lifetime. Students participate in fun, active lessons that connect movement to overall wellness, while also learning the importance of sportsmanship, goal setting, and self-care.

Each year, our students look forward to special events that bring our community together, including: Field Day, the Turkey Trot, National Walk & Roll to School Day, Thurzday Jerezy and the Kids Heart Challenge. These traditions celebrate fitness, friendship, and school spirit, while inspiring students to stay active and healthy both inside and outside of the gym.

Panther Pride, It's Inside...the gym!
