Art class

Hello, I am Ms. Munetsi, the art teacher at Handley STEM Elementary. I have been teaching art for 8 years. I have a bachelors of arts in English literature and Art.

In art class we aim to do our best and be creative. In our art lessons, we focus on the building blocks of all artworks. We learn about: 

• Elements of Art: Lines, Shapes, Colors, Forms, Textures, Values, and Space
• Principles of Design: Proportion, Balance, Emphasis, Variety, Unity, Pattern, and Movement and we understand how to use them in different ways to create a masterpiece.
• We also support SEL growth in art. At the beginning of art, we chant our catchphrase to get ready to create, "I Am Amazing! I Am Strong! I Am Creative! I Am An Artist!" 
• We also learn that art takes persistence and courage!  We turn any mistakes we make into a masterpiece, working with them instead of giving up.

This year Handley artists will have many opportunities to showcase their hard work in various art shows and art contests. Stay tuned for amazing things to come!

 

Music class

My name is Mr. Greske, and I am the music teacher at Handley STEM Elementary School. This is my 2nd year teaching elementary music and my first year teaching in Garland ISD. I am very excited to spend this year getting to know the students and families at Handley. Our goal in music class is to learn how to have great musicianship through singing, moving, and playing instruments. I want every student to leave my class with a love of music, whether that is through making it or through appreciating the hard work it takes to make great music. Let's have a great year making music together!
