Hello and welcome to Heather Glen Montclair (HGM) Elementary!

I’m Mrs. Garcia, proud principal of HGM and honored to serve this incredible school community during a meaningful and exciting time. As we bring together two vibrant school communities, we are not only building a bridge to a new campus, but we are also honoring the strengths, stories, and traditions of both. This unique season celebrates who we’ve been and who we’re becoming.

Heather Glen Montclair is more than a name; it’s a powerful reminder that we are stronger together. Our students, staff, and families bring diverse experiences and shared values that make this a place of belonging, growth, and excitement. I believe deeply in creating a school where every child is seen, safe, and inspired, because when students feel valued, they’re ready to thrive.

We’re not just building a school, we’re building a legacy that will carry us into a bright future. As we prepare for the opening of Linda L. Griffin Elementary, the work we do now is shaping the culture, community, and excellence that will define us for years to come.

Assistant Principal -  Maribel Diaz

Hello! My name is Maribel Diaz, and I am so proud to serve as the Assistant Principal here at our amazing school, Heather Glen Montclair. I’ve been in education for 11 wonderful years, working as a high school reading teacher, a bilingual specialist, and now as an assistant principal. Each of these roles has shaped who I am as an educator and strengthened my commitment to helping every student grow and succeed.

Being part of this school community is truly an honor, and I’m excited to continue supporting our students, families, and staff in every way I can. I believe in creating a warm, welcoming environment where all children feel seen, valued, and encouraged to do their best.

When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my husband and our two playful dogs. Whether we’re going for a walk or just relaxing at home, they always bring lots of joy to my day.

I look forward to a fantastic school year filled with learning, joy, and growth!

Assistant Principal -  Dr. Niyah Griffin

Hello! I am honored and thrilled to serve as the Assistant Principal of Heather Glen Montclair Elementary School. My goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of our students, their families, and our dedicated teachers and staff. This year, I am committed to supporting efforts that ensure every student receives a high-quality education and is empowered to reach their fullest potential academically, socially, culturally, and emotionally.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Jacksonville State University, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University. Over the past 27 years, I have been privileged to serve in the field of education, which I often refer to as my ministry. My experiences span various roles—including teacher, specialist, liaison, and trainer in K–12 schools, as well as positions in Higher Education. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to serve in leadership positions as both a campus and central office administrator.

Outside of school, I am happily married to Mr. Darryl Griffin, and together we are proud parents of three adult children: Denise, an Instructional Coach in St. Louis, Missouri; Lauren, an administrator at the University of Maine with Stop Hazing; and Jordan, a junior at the University of North Texas in Denton. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, attending concerts and comedy shows, and spending quality time with family and friends
